Before you sit down, say good morning to your brothers and sisters.
"God is More Than Able"
Trun with me in your Bibles to the Book of Ephesians chapter 3 and say, "Amen" when you are there.
Let's look at verse 20.
"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us..."
It’s a blessing to stand before you today, and I truly believe that God has a powerful word for us in this moment.
We’re going to dive into a profound truth from Ephesians 3:20—a verse that should ignite your faith and shift your perspective on who God is and what He can do in your life.
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…”
Did you catch that?
We serve a God who is able to do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or even begin to imagine.
This verse is a reminder that God is not limited by our understanding or our circumstances. The God we serve is not just capable; He is able—abundantly able—beyond what we can think or hope for.
Today, I want to challenge you to stretch your faith.
Are you believing in a God who is more than able?
Or are you limiting His power by your own expectations? We’re going to look at how God's power is limitless, His ability is beyond comprehension, and how He is at work in our lives today.
1: The Power of God’s Ability
The word "able" in Ephesians 3:20 isn’t just a casual word. It speaks of God's ability to exceed all our needs and desires.
The Greek word used here means not just “capable” but “infinitely capable,” meaning that His ability is far beyond anything we can even begin to understand.
God’s power isn't just enough—it's more than enough.
When He acts, He doesn’t just meet the minimum; He overflows in abundance.
Consider the many demonstrations of God’s power in the Bible:
He parted the Red Sea with just a command. Millions of people walked through dry land, and God drowned their enemies with a single wave of the ocean.
He raised Lazarus from the dead after four days, proving that His power is greater than death itself.
He fed over 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. What an overflow of provision!
We serve the God who made the universe with His words, who commands the wind and the waves. Nothing is too hard for Him. That same God is more than able to work in your life today.
2: God Can Do More Than We Imagine
God doesn’t just do what we ask; He does immeasurably more. God isn’t bound by what we think He can do. He is bigger, stronger, and more powerful than we realize. Sometimes, we limit God by thinking too small. We ask for what we think is possible, but God desires to do what is impossible.
Let me share a powerful testimony from our own church family.
Overcoming the Impossible
A woman in our church came to us several years ago, battling infertility. She and her husband had been trying to have children for over five years, but there were no answers. Doctors said it was unlikely they would ever conceive.
But one day, during a prayer meeting, this couple boldly declared, “God, You are more than able to bring life where there is barrenness. We trust You for a miracle.”
And just a few months later—against all odds—she became pregnant. Today, they have two beautiful children. God didn’t just meet their need; He exceeded their expectations in a way no one could have imagined.
That’s the God we serve. He is able to do more than we ask or imagine, but we must dare to ask Him, to believe Him for the impossible.
3: Faith Releases God’s Ability
God's power is limitless, but the key to unlocking that power is faith. The Bible says that without faith, it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). When we place our faith in God, we create space for His power to move in our lives.
Faith isn’t just hoping; it’s trusting that God can and will act. It’s not just about saying “I believe” but living out that belief in the way we think, speak, and act. When we trust God, even in the midst of difficulty, we are opening the door for Him to do what only He can do.
A young couple in our congregation was struggling financially. They had just lost their jobs and were facing the possibility of losing their home. With no income coming in, they were desperate. But instead of succumbing to fear, they prayed, trusting that God could provide in a way they couldn’t foresee.
A week later, they received an unexpected job offer that not only paid more than their previous jobs but also included a housing allowance. God didn’t just provide for their needs—He gave them more than they could have dreamed of.
A man in our church had been dealing with chronic back pain for years, and nothing seemed to help. After numerous doctor visits, the doctors told him surgery was his only option. But he refused to give up hope. One Sunday during a healing service, he stepped out in faith and believed that God was more than able to heal him. As hands were laid on him, he felt a warmth in his back, and in that moment, the pain disappeared. Today, he is completely healed, and he praises God for the miracle He brought in his life.
Let us bow our heads together.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and expectation. We thank You that You are the God who is more than able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think.
Lord, we lay our requests before You today. We come with needs, burdens, and dreams that seem impossible in our own strength. But we trust in Your power.
God, we ask for miracles—miracles in our bodies, in our relationships, in our finances, and in our lives. We ask You to exceed what we could ask for or imagine. And as we wait, help us to stand firm in faith, knowing that You are working even when we cannot see it.
In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Maybe you’ve been battling sickness, facing financial struggles, or carrying a heavy burden that feels too much to bear. Today, we’re going to trust God for a breakthrough.

As you leave today, remember that our God is more than able. Whatever you’re facing, He is able to do far more than you can ask or imagine. Let that truth sink deep into your heart, and walk in the confidence that the God who created the universe is working in your life today.
May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.
