SOUL
Gain the whole world
Mark. 8:[36] “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
So why did I title this devotion as ‘gain the whole world’, people are fascinated with the word ‘gain’ rather than ‘soul’, anybody listening? My daughter would tell me, ‘mom, keep your title soothing and capturing’ if not people would press the del button; I thought, they are doing it anyways…
The teacher working with me came dancing into my room and said , my son has got two government job orders, she was beaming with joy. Her son is a smart athlete, State level football player and good in academics too. My teacher is one among 5 sisters, worked hard, got a government job, built her own house, gets pension and now working for me because of her love for children. She is on top of the world, pocket full of money, wears lot of jewels and enjoys her life to the brim. However, despite me giving her the Bible and sharing the Gospel, she is unable to comprehend the truth. She wakes up very early does her poojas and ardently runs from one temple to another. I wondered “what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
FEED: Friend, nourish your soul! He is the soul's bread, and “whoever feeds on this bread will live forever” (John 6:58) Read the Bible everyday and pray. Today we rarely see people think of their soul, seek God with all your soul:
But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29
SEEK: Do not wander away from God but choose the right path that would bless your soul:
This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.
But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” Jeremiah 6:16
HELL: These days even women drink, smoke, take drugs to enhance energy and have weekend bashes, think of your soul that would be thrown into hell; Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28
Watch what you speak rather than recklessly using your tongue to destroy others:
Gracious words are a honeycomb,sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24
