Embracing God’s Blessings and Freedom. Deuteronomy 30:15-20
Good Morning
Stand with me and lift your bible and repeat after me.
This is my Bible.
I am what it says I am.
I can do what it says I can do.
I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.
Today I will learn more of the word of God.
The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.
I will never be the same.
I will never be the same.
In Jesus Name
Amen?
Before you sit down, say good morning to your brothers and sisters.
Turn with me in your Bible to Deuteronomy 30:15-20 and say, “Amen” when you are there.
Where are you headed in life right now?
Imagine standing at a crossroads, with two paths before you. One leads to life, joy, and purpose, while the other leads to despair, heartache, and emptiness.
Moses, in Deuteronomy 30, brings the people of Israel to such a moment. He tells them, “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil… therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice, and holding fast to him.”
This moment isn’t just a page in history. It’s a reminder for each of us that life is filled with choices, and the most important one is whether we will follow God’s path or our own.
Choosing God means choosing life, not just survival, but a life overflowing with purpose, peace, and blessing.
1. The Gift of Choice and Its Impact on Our Lives
God doesn’t force us onto a certain path.
He honors our free will, allowing us to choose Him willingly.
But along with that freedom comes responsibility. Our choices shape our lives and those of future generations.
Every time we choose life, we choose blessings, strength, and the possibility of a legacy of faith for our families and those around us.
Choosing life in God means setting aside fear, doubt, and selfishness to embrace faith, obedience, and love. It means trusting God’s promises over our uncertainties, even when we can’t see the whole picture.
What choices are we making today, and do they reflect a heart set on choosing life?
I’d like to share the story of a friend named Jason. Jason struggled with addiction for years, a battle that left him feeling alone, defeated, and without hope.
One evening, as he sat in a small, dimly lit room, he felt an overwhelming sense of emptiness. It was a moment of deep despair but also a moment of decision. In that quiet place, he felt God’s gentle nudge: “Jason, choose life.”
At that crossroads, Jason decided to surrender everything to God. He chose life, even though it meant facing the painful process of breaking free from addiction.
With each day, as he trusted God and allowed Him to work in his heart, Jason experienced freedom, joy, and a purpose he had never known. Today, Jason is free and helps others find hope, freedom, and healing through Christ. His story is a testament to the transformative power of choosing life.
Like Jason, each of us faces crossroads. It may not look like his story, but we all have moments when we must choose between holding onto something destructive or surrendering it to God to embrace His better path.
What crossroads are you facing, and how might God be calling you to choose life?
3. Walking in God’s Promise: The Blessing of Choosing Life
In Deuteronomy 30:20, Moses emphasizes that God Himself is “your life and the length of your days.”
Choosing life means aligning our hearts with God, loving Him, obeying Him, and drawing near to Him. It’s not a one-time choice; it’s a journey of daily surrender and trust.
God promises that if we cling to Him, He will fill our days with strength, peace, and purpose. Even when storms come, we can rest in the knowledge that we walk with the One who controls the winds and waves.
This journey of choosing life isn’t always easy. We may have to let go of our plans, step out of our comfort zones, or forgive those who have wronged us.
But the reward is far greater than anything we could imagine. In God’s
presence, we find true freedom, joy, and purpose.
As we come to a close, I invite you to examine your heart. Perhaps you’re at a place where you feel the weight of a decision, a struggle, or an area where you need God’s help to make a choice for life. Maybe you’ve been carrying burdens that keep you from fully walking in God’s blessing. This is your moment to respond, just as Moses called the Israelites to respond.
If you’re ready to choose life today—to surrender fully, renew your commitment, or lay down a burden—come forward.
Let’s pray together.
This is a moment between you and God, where you can exchange fear for faith, despair for hope, and doubt for trust. Whether you need peace, healing, courage, or strength, God is here to meet you.
Let us pray.
"Lord, we stand before You, aware of the choices You’ve set before us. We want to choose life. We want to walk in Your ways, to know Your love, and to live a life that reflects Your glory. Give us courage, strength, and wisdom to choose the path that leads to life and joy. Meet each person here today, Lord, and let Your Spirit fill every heart. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Today, let’s leave here with a heart set on choosing life. Let’s walk in God’s blessing and make each day a testimony of His love and grace. May our lives shine with His hope as we embrace His promise to be our life, our strength, and our joy.
