Stand with me and lift your bible and repeat after me.
This is my Bible.
I am what it says I am.
I can do what it says I can do.
I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.
Today I will learn more of the word of God.
The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.
I will never be the same.

More Than Conquerors: Living in the Power of Romans 8
Turn in your Bible to Romans Chapter 8 and say, “Amen”, when you are there.
Have you ever heard the following?
Through Jesus, we are free from condemnation, empowered by the Spirit, and held in God’s unshakable love.
1. Introduction: A Chapter of Hope for Every Believer
Romans 8 is like a mountaintop in Scripture.
It’s a chapter that starts with “no condemnation” and ends with “no separation.” Paul’s words here hold such incredible promises that it has brought hope and strength to countless believers through the ages.
Romans 8 reminds us that because of Jesus, we are no longer condemned, that the Holy Spirit lives in us, and that nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God. These are truths we can stand on, especially in times of struggle.
2. “No Condemnation” - The Freedom We Have in Christ
- Romans 8:1 says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
- What an amazing promise! This means that no matter what you’ve done, no matter how far you’ve fallen, if you are in Christ, God does not condemn you. When you come to Him in faith, He forgives you completely.
Think about that.
Imagine carrying a heavy backpack filled with all your regrets, mistakes, and failures. Jesus comes along and says, “Let me take that for you.” He lifts the weight and says, “You’re free. I’ve forgiven you. Go and live in peace.”
I remember hearing about a man named James who had spent years living in bitterness. He had hurt many people, and he felt ashamed of who he had become. One day, he came to a small church, feeling that he had nowhere else to turn. As he heard the pastor read Romans 8:1, he broke down, realizing that even he could be forgiven. That night, he prayed for the first time in years, giving his life to Jesus.
James later shared, “When I walked out of that church, I felt like a new person. For the first time, I felt free from my past.” Just like James, we don’t have to live under the weight of condemnation. Jesus has set us free.
3. Life in the Spirit: Empowered to Overcome
- Romans 8:11 tells us, “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
- Think about that: the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us! We are not left to face life’s struggles on our own. The Holy Spirit gives us strength, guidance, and comfort.
Imagine a small boat on a raging sea, about to be overwhelmed by the waves. Then, imagine that boat suddenly receiving a powerful engine to steer it safely through the storm. That’s what the Holy Spirit does in our lives. We are no longer helpless; we are empowered to live victoriously, even in the face of life’s challenges.
Someone I know once told me about her battle with addiction. She had tried to break free so many times on her own but felt like she kept hitting a wall. Then, she turned to God and prayed for His help. As she began to lean on the Holy Spirit, she found new strength to resist temptation and new hope for her life. She said, “It was as if God was carrying me. I knew I couldn’t do it alone, but I didn’t have to.”
The Holy Spirit doesn’t just sit beside us—He empowers us from within. He lifts us up, guides us, and helps us become more like Christ each day.
4. God’s Unbreakable Love: Nothing Can Separate Us
- Romans 8:38-39 is one of the most powerful declarations of God’s love in the Bible: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- No matter where we are or what we’re going through, God’s love is with us. We may face hardships, but we never face them alone. His love is stronger than anything we fear—stronger than our failures, stronger than our doubts, stronger even than death.
There’s a story of a woman named Sarah who went through one of the darkest times in her life after losing her husband. She felt alone and abandoned, but one day, as she was reading Romans 8, she felt God’s love wash over her like never before. She said, “I realized that even though I had lost so much, God’s love was with me. He hadn’t left me.” Sarah’s life began to change as she experienced God’s comforting love, and today, she shares her story to bring hope to others.
Just like Sarah, we can stand firm in the truth that no hardship, no struggle, no loss, and no fear can ever separate us from God’s love. His love is a fortress that stands against every storm.
Romans 8 is a chapter filled with promises, but they are promises for those who are in Christ.
If you’re here today and you don’t know Jesus, or if you feel like you’ve drifted from Him, He is inviting you to come to Him. He is inviting you to experience a life free from condemnation, a life empowered by His Spirit, and a life held in His unbreakable love.
Maybe you feel like you’re carrying the weight of guilt and shame. Maybe you’re struggling, feeling like you’re facing life’s storms alone. Or maybe you just need to know that you are loved by God, that His love for you will never fail.
Jesus is here to meet you. He says to you, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” If you’re ready to receive His forgiveness, His freedom, and His love, I invite you to pray with me:
"Lord Jesus, I come to You just as I am. I confess that I need You. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again to give me new life. I ask You to forgive me, to lift the weight of my past, and to fill me with Your Spirit. Thank You for Your unbreakable love. I receive Your gift of salvation, and I choose to live for You. Amen."
6. Conclusion: Living as More Than Conquerors
Romans 8:37 reminds us that in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. We are not defeated, we are not abandoned, and we are not condemned. Because of Jesus, we are conquerors—over sin, over fear, over every challenge we face.
So, as we leave today, let’s hold onto these promises. Let’s walk in the freedom from condemnation, live in the power of the Spirit, and stand firm in God’s unbreakable love. And let’s share this hope with a world that needs it, showing others the life-changing love of Jesus.
If you prayed today and gave your life to Christ, or if you need prayer, we’re here for you. Let’s walk together in this incredible journey as children of God, empowered, loved, and more than conquerors through Him.
