Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne. Revelation 4:9-10
Something beautiful happened when the living creatures began to worship God. Heaven came alive (to life), and all of heaven joined in to worship God. All of heaven was in one chorus worshipping God. All of heaven joined in a song of praise and adoration to God. The tune Holy, Holy, Holy resonated in the heavens. Heaven sprang to life, and every creature joined the symphony of living creatures. Created beings began to revere and worship the Creator for who He is. Everyone in heaven was busy at work when the worship of living creatures interrupted it. Heaven has joined the chorus singing "Holy, Holy, Holy, are you Lord"... What a stunning sight to see. All of heaven sings together in a single voice in praise of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Seeing this awesome sight, Apostle John might have been filled with overflowing joy.
He might have also joined heaven in singing, "Holy, Holy, Holy". Worship of living creatures was so contagious that everyone joined in and were caught in worshipping God. The 24 elders sat on their thrones (near God) until living creatures began to worship God. When the living creatures began to worship God, the 24 elders fell facedown to worship God. What's so amazing about the living creatures worship that the 24 elders fell down and heaven started worshipping God? The worship of living creatures caused the 24 elders to fall face down and worship God. Worship of living creatures caused everything in heaven to come to life and worship God. What was the reason, and what happened when living creatures worshipped God? The answer may be found in the following vision.
In a vision, God took a young man to heaven and leads him to an auditorium where God sat on his throne, surrounded by 24 elders, living animals, and angels. The scene was stunning and magnificent. God was the most dazzling entity among them all. He was shining in dual colours: emerald and silver, and the intensity of his brilliance was like fire. God's Glory or brightness radiated and shone with the intensity of fire.
When the living creatures began to praise and adore God, God on the throne shone or radiated even more brightly that the entire auditorium gradually filled with His Glory. As the living creatures praised God, God on the throne shone or radiated more and more brightly. The light, brightness and intensity increased until the entire place was saturated with God's Glory. Before the living creatures began worshipping, the 24 elders were seated on their thrones. When the living creatures began to worship God, looking at such greater radiance or brightness of God’s Glory the 24 elders fell face down. Worship brings/draws a greater radiance or brightness of God's Glory. The adoration of living creatures caused the 24 elders to see a greater Glory of God.
24 elders were unable to withstand or sustain the light (so much radiance) of God's Glory that they fell face down. They were astonished or awestruck by God's glory. They were sitting on their thrones, but as the living things worshipped God, God's Glory shone so brightly that they were struck, stunned, or awestruck, and fell facedown. The 24 elders started worshipping along with the living creatures.
It was as if 24 elders had an encounter with God's Glory as living creatures worshipped God. As the living creatures worshipped God, the light and intensity of God Glory grew brighter. Heaven came to life when the living creatures began to worship God.
Maybe the living creatures lived so near to God that they couldn't help but praise and worship God. They may have become caught in wonder of who God IS and burst forth into worship - "Holy Holy". Every time they see God, they see a different facet of God because of which they are stunned and burst forth in a new song. Maybe the living creatures could be a singing a single song without any pause or stop or a repetition for the past millions of years.
Maybe the living creatures sang a single song with numerous verses, none of which were repeated. God has so many wonderful attributes and natures that singing about them in a single song (without repetition) might last for millions of years. There worship might be happening for the past million years and if it continues for next million years, it is still not sufficient to completely ascribe Glory due to God’s name. That is why they do not rest but continue to worship God forever and forever.
They realised that their praise and worship which they do continuously for next million years is still not sufficient to completely ascribe Glory due to God’s name. They always fall short in worship (ascribe God complete praise for who he really IS), that is why they do not waste time or take rest, but instead devote every second to worshipping God forever and ever. Where are these kind of worshippers who recognise the magnificence and greatness of who God IS and to completely honour and praise him, even their lifetime or the next ten thousand years is not sufficient, so they began to worship God forever and ever. They do not waste time but strive to praise and honour him continuously knowing the fact that they have less or limited time on earth to worship God for who He really Is.
May God raise worshippers who understand that God is so great that our lifetime or the next thousand years will not be sufficient enough to adore and worship him for who he truly is, leading them to worship God day and night (without break)for the rest of their lives. The closer you come to God, the more we will understand God and His greatness, the more we will realise that the honour and praise we give to God is insufficient, and we will strive or seek to praise and worship God even more.
The living creatures are full of eyes, which allows them to see God more clearly that they can’t stop praising God. Maybe two eyes are not sufficient to see who God really is, and more eyes can help us see God more clearly. Perhaps they are so taken with God's awesomeness and power that they burst out in praise. Looking at God so closely, they couldn't help but worship him for who He is. The more closer we get to God, the more will be our worship. A person who has seen God can be known by the adoration and praise he gives to God.
The living creatures do not rest day and night to worship God because they understood that even if they worship for next millions years, it’s not sufficient to ascribe the praise and honour due to God’s name. So they do not rest but continue to worship God forever and ever. Maybe living beings (all creatures before the throne, including angels) have been worshipping for millions of years, and God's glory is radiating so strongly that it fills the entire universe. May be their adoration causes God's glory to shine throughout the universe.
That is the power of worship. The angels, living creatures, and 24 elders were giving God the right praise and reverence due to his name. Praise and worship are like incense that burns continuously in God's house, causing God's Glory to shine so brightly that we can see God and His grandeur. When we worship God in a right way, God's Glory is likely to shine or radiate so brightly that the audience and congregation will have an encounter with God. 24 elders had a deeper encounter with God because worship of living creatures. Today, if you worship God in the correct way, led by the Holy Spirit, God's glory will shine and radiate so brightly that it will impact people around you.
The auditorium was saturated with God's glory as living creatures and 24 elders worshipped. God's Glory was so radiant and vibrant that it filled the entire auditorium. Start worshipping God led by the Holy Spirit, ascribing the right glory, honour, and praise due to God, and see how it impacts those around you. Worship is the best sacrifice you can make to God. It's a sweet, pleasing aroma to God.
Worship is something that is due from us to God for who He is. He has already done so much for us through the cross, and we owe him so much for it. He does not need to do anything new to earn our worship. We already owe him so much for the Cross that even worshipping and praising him for the next 1000 years will not be enough to repay him. Because of Cross of Jesus Christ, we are debtors to God for all of eternity. He has already blessed us abundantly and bestowed upon us many daily mercies, for which we should already be grateful. We express our gratitude and thanks to God for everything He has done in our lives through praise and worship. He has done billions of good things in our lives, for which we should be eternally grateful and thankful. We owe him our worship for all the good he has done. If you are not grateful to God for the Cross of Jesus and are constantly expecting God to do something new to worship God, your heart has become hard.
Ask God to give a glimpse who he truly IS (His complete Glory) and make you understand how much magnitude of praise and honour we owe him. Don't waste your time because your lifespan on earth is not sufficient to completely give the Glory due to God’s name.
