The Perfection of God
Psalm 18:30
"As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him."
There are three things out here in this verse that actually makes very bold claims regarding God.
One is, God is perfect
Second, God’s Word is perfect
Third, God’s Security is perfect
1. God's Ways are Perfect
v30a. God’s Ways are perfect (As for God, his way is perfect)
In this section of praise, David rejoiced over God’s character and His benefits to him as an individual. In that regard God is perfect in the way He works in our lives despite living in a sinful world that has gone drastically wrong in its operation.
But God’s ways are perfect though things are not where they are intended to be. The celestial signs are perfectly working in the heavens. The Star of Bethlehem worked perfectly to guide the magi to the place of the Messiah’s birth.
Even today the celestial signs in the heavens that is Biblical astronomy is working perfectly in terms of its prophetic connection – fulfilling the Book of Revelation right before our eyes.
God is perfect in His ways either in this corrupted world or even in the perfect sky.
2. God's Word is Perfect
v30b. God’s Word is perfect (The LORD’s word is flawless;)
For 2000 years the Jewish people wandered the earth in exile from their land. But the Word of God prophesied that in the latter days God would bring them back to their homeland and the nation of Israel would come back into the world.
This prophecy came true on May 15, 1948, when the nation of Israel was resurrected. The exile of 2000 years was over.
May 15, 1948, happened to be a Sabbath. That means there was a word appointed from ancient time to be read in every synagogue throughout the world on the day that Israel came back into the world.
And you know what it was? It was from the Book of Amos.
Amos 9:11-15
11 “In that day
“I will restore David’s fallen shelter—
I will repair its broken walls
and restore its ruins—
and will rebuild it as it used to be,
12 so that they may possess the remnant of Edom
and all the nations that bear my name,[a]”
declares the Lord, who will do these things.
13 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman
and the planter by the one treading grapes.
New wine will drip from the mountains
and flow from all the hills,
14 and I will bring my people Israel back from exile.[b]
“They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them.
They will plant vineyards and drink their wine;
they will make gardens and eat their fruit.
15 I will plant Israel in their own land,
never again to be uprooted
from the land I have given them,”
says the Lord your God.
Today if you follow the news you will find that Israel is winning. Winning against Hamas, winning against Hezbollah and against every occupant on its land. Though there are some casualties from Israel’s point of view in this recent war, the fact remains that Israelites are still in Israel. The later part of Jacob’s trouble is bound to come but that’s in the future – not displacing Israel altogether.
This ancient prophecy from Amos 9 foretells the future restoration of Israel. And it just happened to be appointed from ancient times to be read throughout the world on the very day that Israel’s restoration was fulfilled.
What does this tell us today?
It tells us that the Word of God is true and much truer than any circumstances and it also tells us that God’s Word is stronger than history.
So we are called to trust God’s word fully in Psalm 18:30.
When God gives a promise, He will fulfil it. It will come to fruition at the appointed moment, at the set time, ordained from ages past.
Read God’s Word all the days of this month and seek for the exact and appointed moments from the Word. For the Word will come to fruition/fulfilment in its appointed time.
And most importantly as we live in the end times, we need to seek without doubt the fulfilment of God’s Word concerning His coming to receive the Church.
Now, we have entered the month of October and in the Hebrew calendar it’s the month of Tishri.
The year that begins in the autumn with Tishri is considered the civil year (secular year). And the year that begins in the spring with Nisan is considered the sacred year.
So the Hebrew year has two beginning or two calendars so to say!
At the beginning of Tishri, is called Rosh Ha Shannah, and means “The beginning of the Year.”
Its referring to a feast called as the Feast of Trumpets that is celebrated in this month.
The Feast of trumpets announces of the closing cycle.
And also it will announce the closing of the age.
And what is it that you find in Scripture when you look at the prophecies concerning the end of the age? – you’ll find that it has to do with TRUMPETS.
The trumpets of Israel announced the coming of kings and kingdoms and also the approaching of armies.
So when the trumpet sounds, the kingdom of God will come.
The trumpets called the people of Israel to gather before God. So at the sound of the trumpet, God’s people will be gathered up to His presence.
So it is foretold by Paul that when the trumpets sound, the dead in Christ will be awoken. And mind you that it was the sound of the trumpet that announced the beginning of a king’s reign; and the kingdom of this world will become the kingdom of the LORD.
So the Feast of Trumpets tell us that our faith is not only in what was, but in what is yet to come….as is in the coming of Christ.
We live in Salvation and yet to Redemption.
We are a people of hope in that which is yet to come.
This is the month where we are reminded to take the Bible seriously and more importantly to take prophecies about the end times even more seriously.
So live confident and in hope of what is yet to come and be ready for the Day of Trumpets.
Look to the future knowing that God is already there. He is God of the future who is awaiting for you to arrive.
And all of this knowledge is given to us from God’s Word. And God’s Word is flawless. Every word of it is to be read with utter seriousness and respect.
3. God's Security is Perfect
30c. God’s Security is perfect (he shields all who take refuge in him.)
God can be trusted for safety and salvation.
Some people think that belief in God is a support for weak people who cannot make it on their own.
God is indeed a shield to protect us when we are too weak to face certain trials by ourselves, but he does not want us to remain weak.
God strengthens us, protects and guides us in order to send us back into an evil world to live for him confidently and not in discouragement. And then he continues to work with us because the strongest person on earth is infinitely weaker than God and needs his help.
David was not a coward, he was mighty warrior who even with all his armies and weapons, knew that only God could ultimately protect and save him.
Going forward this month and thereafter, know this that :
• God’s Ways are perfect
• God’s Word is perfect
• God’s Security is perfect
This month the Spirit of God is calling us to:
- spend more time with the Lord because He is perfect;
- spend more time in studying His Word because His Word is perfect and
- spend more time in experiencing His security in terms of exercising faith in His provisions, in the availability of emotional health, spiritual prosperity, providence, protection in every regard God’s security is perfect.
Get closer to this perfect God, Get closer to God’s perfect Word; and get closer to God’s perfect security and then sure enough you will live more confidently and courageously as even as the Lord returns for His Church!
