A CRY FOR GOD'S HELP

Psalms 142:1-7 I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.

I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

The Psalmist, in Psalm 142 detailed his travails and cry unto the Lord in times of adversity.

We all face struggles and challenges in life. Sometimes, we feel overwhelmed and don't know where to turn but God is always available to help.

The Psalmist said in

Psalms 107:6

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

Our God is a faithful God who is ever willing to to attend and answer as many as cry unto him. Infact, when the disciples cried unto Jesus, he saved them. Mark 4:38-39 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

There are, no doubt, different sorts of cry as the pains of one believer varies from the other. However, no matter the nature of trouble, our God is ever faithful to deliver when we cry unto him. Jesus says in John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

In actual fact, Jesus encourages believers to ask until their joy be full. In John 16:24 Jesus said, Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Glory be to God! Our God is the all sufficient God who does not with hold anything good from his children.

Little wonder Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:19 declared: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Whenever we cry unto him, he answers. The Bible is full of numerous examples of those who cried to God for help and God indeed helped them.

The Bible records the account of the Blind beggar who even his friends and associates tried to descourage from crying unto the Lord but who against all odds cried the more until Jesus heard him. The Bible says in Mark 10:46-52 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Hannah was barren and childless, yet remained faithful in serving God. She one day, at Shilloh cried unto the Lord and the Lord heard her and made her mother of children even great Samuel. The Bible says in Psalms 113:9

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.

Jabez had a terrible foundational challenge but had to cry to God and God answered him as recorded in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

It was actually a cry in the heart of that very woman with the issue of Blood that suffered all things in the hands of physicians without getting any better. The Bible says Mark 5:25-30 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

It does not matter if your cry is just in your heart, audible or inaudible, let it just even be a wisper or a shout, Jesus is always there to help. He is our present help in time of trouble. The Psalmist said so in Psalms 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Let it be in times of war, he is there to help. He is the mighty man in battle who has never and will never loose any battle. When his children are challenge to battle, be it physical or spiritual. Once they call on him, he will take over the battle and give them victory. In 2 Chronicles 20:20-25 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.

And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much. Just imagine nations ganging up against one King and his people, going to the battle field with their best armies only to meet the people singing and dancing in the battle front all because God had ordered them to sing and dance. That to me looks like dancing for victory. Oh little wonder, the Bible says in Henrews 11 that faith is the evidence of things hoped for and the substance of thing not seen. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 17:43-51 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.

And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

When you cry unto God for help, every inadequacy is put aside and victory is assured.

However, the Bible declared in Prophet Isaiah:

Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

God can only hear his children when they cry unto him. The very first step is to pray the prayer of repentance, then cry unto him and surely he will hear and deliver you.

You can whole heartedly pray this prayer

Lord Jesus, I believe that you died for my sins and that by your name, I can be saved. I come to you today, declaring that I am a sinner, and believe in my heart, confessing it with my mouth, that you can safe me, safe me, come into my life, be my Lord and personal saviour as I declare that I am Bord Again. Thank you Lord for saving me.

Congratulations, if you prayed this prayer of repentance unto God.
