Summary: To God you are everything. His fingerprints are all over you. He created you. He formed you. He took the time to make who you are. Every single piece of you. Not just a couple here and there. He made all of you.

Text: Psalm 19

Each of us has a fingerprint. If you look at the end of your fingers you can see these outlines and shapes that make up our fingerprint. Those fingerprints reveal who we are because no two fingerprints are alike. My fingerprint is completely different from everyone in this room and yours is too. And the amazing thing is when we touch something we leave an imprint of our fingerprint. Me touching this Bible is leave fingerprints all over it and if you dusted for fingerprints you would find mine and it would reveal who I am. Just like in those crime shows and documentaries. The first thing they do when they get to a crime scene is dust for prints because if they can find those fingerprints it will reveal exactly who did the crime. Fingerprints are amazing and when we touch something we leave behind our fingerprints.

You know when we look at creation around us we can see fingerprints. We can see God’s fingerprints all over creation and these fingerprints that God has left behind reveals more of who He is. Revels to us more about the majesty of God and His amazing power and love for everything and everyone. We have been going through a series called O my soul and through this series we have looked at the book of Psalms and looked at what some of the things the authors when through and have seen how to apply it to our lives today. Well today is going to look different. Because today is more of a reminder for us. A reminder of the amazing creation that God has created and the majesty and love that has gone into everything He has created. If you want to open up your bibles to Psalm 19. We are going to look at the beginning of this Psalm together. Then when are going to dive into creation and talk about the amazing things God has done. Read 1-6.

So the first thing that David mentions is the heavens and the sky. Most of the time when you see the word heavens they are referring to space. That was the heavens to them and that is what David is talking about here. So lets talk about space for just a second. On a clear night when you look up you can see amazing things right. You see hundreds of thousands of stars shining and sometimes you might even get to see our Milky Way galaxy. But here are some more things just get you thinking. It is estimated that just in our Milky way galaxy there are between 200-400 billion stars. Did you hear that. Billion. And it said just our galaxy. There are estimated to be billions of galaxies. Well what's a galaxy. SHOW PICTURE OF GALAXY. The definition of a galaxy is millions or billions of stars gathered together with gas or dust that is held together with a gravitational pull. Think about the intricate work that had to go into making something like that. Let alone making billions of them. Along with stars. We sit and we can only see about 5,000 stars with our naked eye at night. We are seeing a fraction of the huge and gorgeous solar system. But then lets talk about just our galaxy. From end to end our galaxy is about 120,000 light years across. Light years a measurement of the distance light travels in one year which is about 6 trillion miles. So Ill let you do the math of 120,000 light years because my calculator just said error when I tried. On top of all of that. Often times we think our solar system is the milky way galaxy right. The sun and the planets around us are tiny in comparison with the Galaxy. In just this galaxy alone the milky way galaxy there are estimated to be 100 billion planets. Makes you feel kind of small doesn’t it. When you look in the sky at night and see space and you see pictures of space you can really see the majesty, power, and glory of God. SHOW MORE SPACE PICTURES. God’s fingerprints are all over when we look up into the night sky. David says the skies and the heavens don’t actually speak, but when we look up and see the amazing beauty how can you not see God. How can you not see its beauty and see God’s fingerprints everywhere. God showed us the depth of His love and care. If He put that much detail into everything around us imagine the detail He put into you.

But before we get to you and I we are going to talk a little more about creation in general, because God’s fingerprints are all over that as well. Did you know that we are the exact right distance from the Sun. Any closer we would burn up and any farther away Earth could not sustain life. On the Earth there are close to 3 trillion trees. That would be about 422 trees per person. The earth is traveling about 67,000 miles per hour around the Sun. And is traveling through space at 1,000 miles per hour. Talk about a speeding ticket. 71% of the world is water. Biggest swimming pool around. And in that water there are about 226,000 KNOWN species of marine animals. On land there is around 6.5 million known species. And while the heavens, sky, animals, planets, water, etc… don’t talk they still show God’s fingerprints. The intricacy of each thing created shows a creator. Shows love and care power and majesty. But I think the ultimate thing that God’s fingerprints are all over is you and I. The creation that He called very good. Humankind.

So lets talk a little bit about us. When we are born we have 300 bones in our body. As we get older those bones fuse together to make the 206 bones we have as we get older. That is just the tip of the iceberg. When it comes to bones the smallest in our body are in our ears. They are so small if you took our all the bones in our ears they could fit on a penny. But without those bones we could not hear at all. Small but mighty. Speaking of small but mighty lets look at our pinky. Seems insignificant right? Well if you lost your pinky your hand would actually lose 50% of its strength. Those things are amazing, but to me the most amazing thing on the human body is the eye. Actually the only organ more complex than the eye is the brain if that tells you anything. They are so complex that your iris, the colored part of your eye, has over 256 unique characteristics. Just for reference your fingerprint only has 40. Your eye is so powerful it can distinguish approximately 10 million different colors. They are also so powerful that they can detect a candle light 1.7 miles away. The eyes are so important that 80% of learning comes through the eyes. And finally your optic nerve contains over 1 million nerve cells. Listen I could spout off facts all day about the eye, but I think you get the point. Some say all of this is chance. Just some random thing that happened that was good. But this wasn’t random. Our universe wasn’t chance. It was created by a God that cared and loved us. Talking about all of these intricate details and amazing things how can you look at it and think that it happened by chance. To put the kind of detail that is in the world around us and in us someone had to create it. I mean look at paintings and works of art. Look at the detail that goes into those things. Most of the famous paintings we see today wasn’t just some painter who threw paint on a blank canvas and it came out like that. They had to sit and work out every single find detail and shading. So if that much works has to go into a painting how can we say less work goes into creating a universe.

Everywhere we look we can see the fingerprints of God. And especially on us. When it came to the days of creation we were called VERY good. Think about that the next time you look in the mirror. Think about that the next time you want to downplay yourself. Think about that the next time someone calls you ugly or worthless or nothing. To God you are everything. His fingerprints are all over you. He created you. He formed you. He took the time to make who you are. Every single piece of you. Not just a couple here and there. He made all of you. And he took the time to put all the amazing detail into you that makes you, you. If Gods fingerprints are all over the heavens and the skies and they declare the glory and majesty of God then so can we. When we look at creation it is all pointing to God and declaring His glory. And we too are a part of creation. We too have God’s fingerprints. So let’s go out and declare the Glory and majesty of our creator God.
