Summary: Today we are continuing with the topic “Does God Speaks” and we want to look at the different ways that God speaks to us. God created each one of us unique with different gifts, abilities and temperaments.

1. Psalm 19

2. Matthew 10:16-20

3. 2 Timothy 3:16

Today we are continuing with the topic “Does God Speaks” and we want to look at the different ways that God speaks to us. God created each one of us unique with different gifts, abilities and temperaments. We have different styles of learning and different ways of expressing and receiving love. It should not be surprising then that each one of us hears from God differently.

God speaks, both through His world and through His Word. As God speaks through His Word, He makes clear His character and nature, mankind's character and nature, and how man can be reconciled to God through God's Son, Jesus Christ. This Word provides warning for disobedience and promises reward for obedience, with the greatest reward being God Himself.

Martin Luther attributed these line:

The Bible is alive, it speaks to me.

It has feet, it runs after me.

It has hands, it lays hold of me.

Job 33:14

‘For God does speak -- now one way, now another -- though man may not perceive it’.

God does speak to us in different ways. The question is whether or not we are able to hear Him?

1Sa 3:7-10

Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD: The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. 8 The LORD called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.' “So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening."

God was speaking to young Samuel, but he did not recognize His voice. I think that is the story for many of us. God is speaking to us but we simply do not yet know how to hear and understand it. So what are some of the ways that God still speaks to us today?

How God Speaks?

1. God Speaks through His word:

1. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

2. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness so that we can be equipped for every good work.”

Between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New Testament, there is a period of some 400 years. Often this is referred to as the “silent” years. After these 400 years without hearing from God, John the Baptist seems to arrive on the scene with a message directly from God to all that would listen. And just as God spoke to John the Baptist, he is still speaking today through the “Spirit of our Father.”

What I hold in my hand is

• the inspired word of God

• It is the inerrant word of God

• It is the complete word of God

• It is all the truth I need

• It is all-sufficient for life

• It is my road map to heaven.

2. God Speaks when you pray:

Matthew 18:19-20

“I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

Prayer is as much about listening as it is about talking to God.

3. God Speaks Directly or sends His Servants:

Act 9:3-4: God Meets Soul (Paul) on the way to Damascus

Act 8:26-27: Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road--the desert road--that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch …

A boy asked why God in not speaking to him so he showed a airplane flying next day took him to the airport and show the plane and show how big the plane is God is is a big we need to wait patiently.

Conclusion:

1. God Speaks through His word

2. God Speaks when you pray

3. God Speaks Directly or sends His Servants
