True Worship
True worship that honors God:
1. Extravagent Love
2. Extreme Submission/Obedience
3. Exuberant Fervor
Isa 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
Ro 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Php 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Mark 3:11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
Luke 4:41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
The demoniac of Gadera:
Mark 5:6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
Luke 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
Most of us have played "king of the mountain" as a youngster. As long as you are the biggest and strongest, it is fun. But let someone come along that you know that you can't defeat, and many times you just scurry down the hill and let them be king. That is how I see this scenerio. The demoniac had lorded over the area of the graveyard for a good while and no one could tame him. Then Jesus stepped into his turf and things changed rapidly.
There are different ideas of whether the man ran to Jesus or was it the demons within him that thrust him toward Jesus.
I feel that it was probably both.
The demons had no choice but to subject themselves to the higher power.
The man was desperate and recognized Jesus as his Hope.
