Summary: The widow gave to the worldly treasury; when we give our two mites (out of poverty with sacrifice), we give to the heavenly treasury and the Kingdom of God.

And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.” Luke 21:1-4

God always sees and notices the two mites we give to him. He saw the widow's two mites, and He sees our 2 mites as well. When we give (or do) things for God out of our poverty with sacrifice involved in it, God immediately sees and recognises it. The widow gave to the worldly treasury; when we give our two mites (out of poverty with sacrifice), we give to the heavenly treasury and the Kingdom of God. Jesus considered the widow’s 2 mites as much and more than all, when compared to people who gave out of their abundance. When we give our two mites to God, it is considered by Jesus that we have contributed significantly to the Kingdom of God and heaven’s treasury. 2 mites can be giving or doing things for God in our state of our lack or poverty(with sacrifice).

God considers what we give out of poverty and with sacrifice to be a significant contribution to the Kingdom of God. When we do things or give out of our poverty with sacrifice, we give or do a lot for the Kingdom of God, and it goes directly to heaven's treasury. This principle is completely opposite to the giving or doing principle of the world (Giving something out of abundance) rather than giving all out of poverty. The widow out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had. Imagine how much sacrifice is required to give all she has to God. What would happen in her future, and how would she survive the next few days?

The Kingdom of God runs on people who out of their poverty(with sacrifice) give everything to God.

During Peter's time, the church had many people who gave their everything out of poverty (with sacrifice), and they played an important role in spreading God's Kingdom. Only when we reach heaven will we realise and understand how much our two mites contributed to the Kingdom of God. If God is leading you to give or do things out of your poverty, understand that God is making you part of His plan, and you are making significant contribution to the Kingdom of God. God is remembering and recognising all these sacrifices. Jesus appreciated only a few people on his earthly journey, and that widow was one of them.

God recognises, remembers, and appreciates all our two mite sacrifices. Perhaps, just as he appreciated the widow in front of everyone in the temple, Jesus will appreciate all those who offered their two mites in front of all the heavenly hosts in His Heavenly temple. Many times, God does not make us rich, but rather makes us to do things / give out of our poverty with sacrifice, so that we will contribute much to the Kingdom of God. How many two-mite sacrifices did you make for the Kingdom of God? Maybe God cumulates everyone's two mites to build His vast Kingdom.

When was the last time you gave your two mites to God? Maybe you yourself are in lack or poverty, but God is leading you to contribute your time and money; believe that your contribution is directly impacting the Kingdom of God. When we look at it, our two mites are insufficient to do anything, but they do provide a place for God to intervene and initiate His plan for His kingdom. Till now how many different types of two mites have you given the Kingdom of God? God will surely recognise and appreciate all of these two mites sacrifices.

When widow gave all (2 mites) she had to God(treasury), what is stopping us from giving our all (in everything) to God? The widow did not withhold anything from God, but instead put in all the livelihood that she had.

What is stopping us from contributing significantly to God's kingdom by giving your two mites?

Giving the two mites requires a lot of sacrifice. Are you willing to sacrifice your comfort, hope and future to give the two mites to God?
