Psalm 95 O come, let us worship and bow down:
I. The Call To Worship - 1-2 - The Invitation
Publicly - 1 O come,
Properly - let us sing unto the Lord:
Purposely - let us make a joyful noise
Purposefully - to the rock of our salvation.
I. There is STABILITY on the Rock - Ps. 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
II. There is SUPPLY from the Rock - Ex. 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

•The Rock – God the Son - 1 Cor. 10:4 and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
•The Rod – God the Father - Isa 53:4 yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted 10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief:
•The River – God the Holy Spirit - Ps. 105:41 He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.
John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
III. There is SHELTER in the Rock - Ex. 33:22 it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: (Moses)
IV. There is SEVERITY under the Rock - Luke 20:18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
Practically - 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving,
The People - Let us, The Privilege - come,
The Place - before his presence, The Prudence - with thanksgiving
The Praise - and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
2. The Cause For Worship - 3-5 - The Explanation - His -
His Position - 3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods
His Protection -
4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth the strength of the hills is his also
His Provision - 5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
3. The Clause In Worship - 6-7 - The Exhortation
The People - 6 O come, let us worship
The Practice - let us worship and bow down:
The Position - let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
The Privilege - 7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. - John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
4. The Caution With Worship - 7 - 11 - The Admonition - We Have a -
Lord To Imitate - 7 For He is our God
Leader To Duplicate - 7 and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
Lesson To Contemplate - 7 To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 when your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
Loss To Isolate - 10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 11 unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
