Psalm 32:1-11 SPIRITUAL CONTENTMENT
I. THE POSSIBILITY OF SPIRITUAL CONTENTMENT - 1-2
i. The Defination of Spiritual Contentment - Freedom from
Transgression - “to cross a line.” rebellion - Pictures Sin as Defiance.
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Sin - “missing the mark.” A crooked arrow - pictures sin as a Defect.
1 Blessed is he whose whose sin is covered.
Iniquity - “bent or crooked” It pictures sin as Distortion.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity,
Guile - “deceitful.” dishonest and deceptive - sin as Deception.
2 and in whose spirit there is no guile.
1 Transgressions can be forgiven - Our Defiance can be removed
1 Sin can be covered “to conceal" - Our Defect can be re-covered
2 Iniquity may not be imputed - Our Debt can be released
2 Our heart can be free from guile - Our Deception can be repaired
He is telling us spiritual contentment is found in spiritual cleansing.
ii. The Declaration of Spiritual Contentment - Blessed is he
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
II. THE PATH TO SPIRITUAL CONTENTMENT - 3-5 It Involved

iii. Confession - 5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
III. THE PRIVILEGES OF SPIRITUAL CONTENTMENT - 6-11
i. Prayer - 6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found:
ii. Protection - 6 surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. 7 Thou art my hiding place;
iii. Preservation - 7 thou shalt preserve me from trouble;
thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
iv. Presence - 8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
He Guards, Governs, and Guides.
v. Peace - 10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked:
but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.
vi. Praise - 11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous:
and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
