Psalm 20:1-9 We will remember the name of the LORD
I. The Security of the LORD - (1-3)
i. The Hope Involved - 1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee.
It's Source - The LORD hear thee
It's Sufficiency - in the day of trouble;
It's Sovereignty - the name of the God of Jacob
It's Security - defend thee.
ii. The Help Involved - 2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion
The Presence of God - Send thee help from the sanctuary,
The Power of God - and strengthen thee
The Promise of God - out of Zion - (Thy Kingdom Come)
iii. The Humility Involved -
3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.
The Place for Worship - Remember all thy offerings
The Price in Worship - and accept thy burnt sacrifice
The Praise in Worship - Selah. (Jesus paid it all, All to Him we owe)
II. The Supremacy of the LORD - (4-5) They sought God's -
Purpose - The Will of God 4 Grant thee according to thine own heart
Plan - The Word of God - 4 and fulfil all thy counsel.
Provision - The Work of God - 5 We will rejoice in thy salvation,
Praise - Their Worship of God - and in the name of our God we will set up our banners:
Power - Their Walk with God - 5 the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
III. The Sufficiency of the LORD (6-9) -
i. The Conviction - 6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
The Assurance of -
Salvation - Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed;
Supplication - he will hear him from his holy heaven
Satisfaction - with the saving strength of his right hand.
ii. The Confession - 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses:
but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
iii. The Confusion - 8 They are brought down and fallen:
iv. The Confirmation - but we are risen, and stand upright.
v. The Confederation - 9 Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call
