Psalm 3 Triumph in Trouble
1. David's Conflict for Prayer - 1,2
i. The Hurt of His Son -
A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. ii. The Harm of His Sin - (David's sin with Bathsheba) iii. The Howl of His Soul - 1 LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
iv. The Help in His State - 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
2. David's Confidence in Prayer - 3,4
His Protection - 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me;
His Promotion - 3 my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. His Petition - 4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice,
His Provision - 4 and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
3. David's Calm in Prayer - 5,6
His Inward Peace - 5 I laid me down and slept;
His Upward Peace - 5 I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
His Outward Peace - 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
His Onward Peace - 7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God:
4. David's Conquest through Prayer - 7,8 God Hears Prayer - 7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God:
He Humbles Pride - 7 for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; He Halts Presumption - 7 thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. He Honours Praise - 8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD:thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
