Psalms 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
The good news is that, no weapon fashioned against me shall prosper
I can boldly confess that
Psalms 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?..... vs:2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Vs:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Read Psalms 91;1-16
We learnt from our previous lesson (THE COMPONENETS OF THE ANOINTING) that One of the components of the anointing is myrrh, (Ex. 30:22-24).
The Lord gave Moses a very detailed recipe for the anointing oil The anointing oil consists of four principle ingredients mixed with olive oil, which was the fifth component.
The four principle spices were as follows:
• 500 shekels of pure myrrh
• 250 shekels of sweet cinnamon
• 250 shekels of sweet calamus or cane
• 500 shekels of cassia.
1.Myrrh…Suffering …..We lent that
• Myrrh is the first spice and represents bitter things,
• Myrrh is bitter to the taste. So is suffering.
• The oil of myrrh is purifying in its application.
• Myrrh represents the sufferings of the cross of Jesus.
We also looked at the following topics in our last lesson;
• Causes of suffering
• The nature of suffering
• Our proper attitude to suffering
• Purpose and reason for suffering
We leant that; There are five ways that suffering can enter a believer’s life.
1. OTHERS AROUND YOU:….e.g. Joseph
2. UNAVOIDABLE CIRCUMSTANCES OF LIFE:…..e.g. Naomi
3. BECAUSE OF YOUR MINISTRY FOR THE LORD …e.g. Paul
4. DIRECT SATANIC ACTIVITY:…e.g. Job
5. YOUR OWN SIN: Before I was afflicted I went astray; (Psalms 119:67)
THE NATURE/ANATOMY OF SUFERING
(1)SUFFERING IS PAINFULL. 1 timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
(2) SUFFERING IS PERPLEXING. 1 cor 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
(3) SUFFERING IS PURPOSEFULL.Romans 8:28And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
(4) SUFFERING IS A PROCESS. Romans 5:3-4 3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;
(5) SUFFERING IS PREDETERMINED OR APPOINTED. 1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;
(6) SUFFERING IS INEVITABLE. 1 Thessalonians 3:3 so that no man may be disturbed by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we have been destined for this.
(7) SUFFERING REQUIRES OUR COPERATION. Suffering requires the right response if it is to be successful in accomplishing God’s purposes. “We all want the product, character; but we don’t want the process, suffering.”2
THE PROPER ATTITUDE TOWARDS SUFFERING
The real test of your spirituality is how you respond in the day of distress:
If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. (Provb 24:10)
1) DON’T BE ASHAMED If any man suffer as a Christian let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on this behalf. . . (I Peter 4:16)
2) REJOICE And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. (Acts 5:41)
3) THINK IT NOT STRANGE Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing partaker of Christ's sufferings; that when His glory shall be revealed ye may be glad with exceeding joy. (I Peter 4:12-13)
4) COMMIT YOU SOUL (YOUR SUFFERING) TO GOD Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing as unto a faithful Creator. (I Peter 4:19)
5) EXPECT A TURNAROUND psalms 30;5 Acts 3vs 5
PURPOSE AND RESON FOR SUFFERING
1) TO TEST OUR FAITH: That the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perisheth though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. (I Peter 1:7)
2) TO EQUIP YOU TO COMFORT OTHERS: Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. (II Cor 1:3-4)
3) TO TEACH US NOT TO TRUST IN OURSELF:. . . In Asia we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life; But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God which raiseth the dead. (II Cor 1:8-9)
4) TO PREPARE YOU FOR MINISTRY: Behold I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. (Isaiah 48:10)
5) TO TEACH YOU OBEDIENCE: Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered. . . (Hebrews 5:8)
6) TO ENLARGE YOU SPIRITUALLY: Thou has enlarged me when I was under pressure. (Psalms 4:1 RSV)
7) TO TEST THE WORD OF GOD WITHIN YOU: The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (Psalms 12:6)
8) TO DEVELOP POSITIVE SPIRITUAL QUALITIES: We glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation worketh patience, and patience experience, and experience hope, (resulting in the love of God being shed abroad in our hearts). (Romans 5:3-4)
9) TO TURN BAD TO GOOD: Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither; for God did send me before you to preserve life. So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God. . . (Genesis 45:5,8)
10) TO TURN LOSSES TO WINS: But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. (Philippians 3:7-8)
11) TO TURN WEAKNESS TO STRENGTH:. . . My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. (II Cor 12:9)
12)TO REMOVE THAT WHICH IS UNSTABLE:. . . removing of those things that are shaken as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. (Hebrews 12:27)
13) TO PREPARE YOU TO REIGN WITH CHRIST: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. . . (II Timothy 2:12)
14) TO MANIFEST THE WORKS OF GOD: Neither this man sinned nor His parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in Him. (John 9:3)
15) TO PERFECT THE POWER OF GOD: And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (II Corinthians 12:9)
16) TO SHIFT YOUR FOCUS: For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (II Corinthians 4:17-18)
17) TO CHANGE THE OLD SELF-NATURE: Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity; therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed. (Jeremiah 48:11)
18) TO HELP YOU COME TO KNOW GOD INTIMATELY:. . I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.Wherefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes. (Job 42:5-6)
2. Sweet Cinnamon….grace
• Sweet cinnamon represents sweet things, the sweetness of grace.
• Cinnamon improves the flavor of bitter substances.
• Myrrh/ Cinnamon - Suffering and grace are mingled together - a beautiful facet of the person of Christ
• The cinnamon oil is distilled from the bark of the cinnamon tree growing in Ceylon.
• It is something very tasty and is usually used to flavor food because of its pleasant aroma.
Grace opens up new capacities for recognizing God’s presence in our sufferings and in that presence is the seed of current peace as well as future joy.
DIFERENT FORMS OF GRACE
a). Common Grace
• poured out upon all men regardless of their spiritual condition
“But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you; in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” (Matthew 5:44-45).“
b). Saving Grace For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesian 2:8)
c). Securing Grace Through Silvanus, our faithful brother (for so I regard him), I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it! (1 Peter 5:12).
d). Sanctifying Grace But by the grace of God I am what I am, (1 Corinthians 15:10).
e). Serving Grace But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift (Ephesians 4:7).
f). Sustaining Grace Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
g). grace to recover1 Samuel 30:8 And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. (See john 10;10, Joel 2;25)
The scope of Gods grace
through the grace of God, there is ………..
No problem that can't be solved,
no sickness that can't be healed, no burden that can't be lifted,
no storm that can't be weathered,
no devastation that can't be relieved,
no sorrow that can't be erased,
no poverty cycle that can't be broken,
no sinner that can't be saved,
no perishing that can't be rescued,
no fallen that can't be lifted,
no hurt that can't be removed,
no broken relationship that can't be mended,
no difference that can't be resolved,
no hindrance that can't be shaken,
no limitation that can't be overcome,
no mourning that can't be comforted,
no ashes that can't become beauty,
no heaviness that can't be covered with the garment of praise,
no thirst that can't be quenched, no hunger that can't be filled,
no dry ground that can't be flooded,
no desert that can't blossom,
no congregation that can't be revived,
no preacher that can't be anointed,
no church pews that can't be filled,
no church leadership team that can't become 'one,'
no community that can't be Christianized and
no nation that can't be transformed.
3. Sweet Calamus….brokenness
"Sweet calamus" The Hebrew word means a "reed" or "cane," being derived from a root-term meaning "to stand upright."
• The calamus is a sweet cane plant of about ten feet high growing in Asia in marshy places.
• This reed scents the air while it grows. We too must emit the presence of Christ as we grow in Him.
• When it is crushed and broken, it exudes a sweet fragrance.
• Calamus is used in the richest perfumes. We too can become rich in Christ.
• The more it is broken, more of the fragrance is exuded. In its spiritual application,
• The calamus speaks of brokenness.
Brokenness Defined
Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise
Isaiah 57;15 I dwell with him that has a broken and a contrite spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble
Brokenness attracts His attention and moves His hand.
Brokenness is God’s requirement for maximum usefulness
Brokenness is the stripping of self-reliance
Brokenness is the shattering of my self-will - the absolute surrender of my will to the will of God.
God loves brokenness. It draws Him near to us, and us to him, like a magnet and metal.
The broken person has no confidence in his own ability, but he is cast in total dependence upon the grace of God working in and through him.
Brokenness is saying "Yes, Lord!" - no resistance, no stubbornness - simply submitting myself to His direction and will in my life.
• A Broken Christian is a person who has died with Christ,
• whose stiff neck has been broken,
• whose brazen forehead has been shattered,
• whose stony heart has been crushed,
• Whose pride has been slain, and whose life is now mastered by Jesus Christ.
Consequences of Resisting Brokenness
A. We hinder our relationship with the Lord.
B. We delay the fulfillment of God’s will in our lives.
C. We hurt those who are closest to us.
D. We limit what the Father can do through our gifts and talents.
E. We are “put on the shelf”—unused by the Lord and prevented from experiencing His
4. Cassia….humility
• Cassia is derived from a Hebrew word “quadad”
• Quadad means “to bend” , “to bow down” or “to stoop”
• Cassia speaks of humility.
• Cassia grows in high altitude,…humble yourself and he will lift you up
• Brokenness produces true humility.
Revival is birthed through humble and broken saints who yearn to see the glory of God sweep the land. 11 chron 7;14
• Mt:18:4: Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
• Mt:23:12: And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
• James:4:6: But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
• 1Pt:5:5: Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Jesus displayed all the four components of the anointing during his earthly ministry
SUFERING (Hebrews 5:8)Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered. . . MYRRH
GRACE John1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ…..SUFFERING.
BRUISED/ CRUSHED Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.,…,,CALAMUS
HUMILITY Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross….Vs:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Vs:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;…Vs:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father…...CASSIA
We mentioned earlier at the beginning of this teachings that anointing attracts trouble! Jesus was not spared either as recorded in the following scriptures
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,Vs:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Vs:20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Vs:21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.Vs:22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
Vs:23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. 4:24 And he said, Verily, I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
Vs:28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, Vs:29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. Vs:30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
John 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him…..vs:39 therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,….Vs 40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
WHEN THE GOIN GETS TOUGH, GO BACK TO JORDAN
John 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him…..vs:39 therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,….Vs 40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
When the jewish people wanted to stone him, he retreated to Jordan. And while in Jordan they brought word to him that his fiend lazarus was sick. He did not panick though. He did not throw in the towel, he did not disper, he was not confused, he did not go there to hide but he went to have an encounter with God the hoy Spirit.
It is also interesting to not that when he was told that lazarus was sick, he continued stayin in Jordan.he knew that it is not by might, nor by power, but by the spirit of God. He knew that it is the anointing that breaks the yoke!..he needed the COME BACK ANOINTING!!!!
The devil is a liar
Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. Vs:29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Vs:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: Vs:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
SOMEBODY SHOUT AM COMING BACK!!!!!!!
Job 14:7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Vs:8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Vs:9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:
Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
Nahum 1:9 affliction shall not rise up the second time.
its time to go back to Jordan
1. When prayer ceases to be a vital part of your life. THEN ITS TIME TO GO BACK TO JORDAN!!! It has been said that "revival delays because prayer decays.”
2. When the quest for Biblical truth ceases and you become content with the knowledge you have already acquired. THEN ITS TIME TO GOBACK TO JORDAN!!!
3. When you pardon your own sin with self-righteousness and by saying "the Lord knows I am just dust" or "that is the way I am.”..THEN ITS TIME TO GO BACK TO JORDAN!!!
4. When hell breaks loose and you suddenly find yourself in the midst of a big confusion..THEN ITS TIME TO GO BACK TO JORDAN
5. When your best friends suddenly turns their back on you and you wonder why…THEN ITS TIME TO GO BACK TO JORDAN
6. When sin can be indulged in without protest by your conscience…THEN ITS TIME TO GO BACK TO JORDAN
7. When aspirations of Christ-like holiness are no longer dominant in your life.
8. When "worship" becomes a weariness. Church services lose their excitement, you can mouth religious songs and words without heart, there is no song in your heart, no praise with the ring of joy.
9. When breaches of unity in the fellowship are of no concern to you.
10. When the slightest excuse seems sufficient to keep you from Christian service.
11. When your fleshly senses are out of control: You watch degrading movies and television, listen to ungodly music, and read morally debilitating literature.
12. When you adjust happily to the world's lifestyle: For examples, unpaid debts, bankruptcy, lying, dishonesty, unkept appointments and promises, immodest styles of dress, cheating your employer of a full day's work, etc.
13. When your lack of spiritual power no longer concerns you; there is no restless yearning for more of God and His power in your life.
14. When your church has fallen into spiritual decline. Where gossip is tolerated, slander is the odder of the day, backbiting is in fashion, Such spiritual decline is indicated by carnality. A carnal church may have...
-Equipment, but not evangelism.
-Commotion, but not creation.
-Action, but not unction.
-Rattle, but not revival.
-A dogmatic attitude, but not be dynamic for God.
THEN ITS TIME TO GO BACK TO JORDAN!!!!!!
15. When the moral, political spiritual, and economic condition of the world and your nation is of no concern to you….ITS TIME TO GO BACK TOJORDAN!!!
16. When your heart is hard: Your tears do not flow easily, you are uncaring, abrupt, etc. You do not weep over the things which Jesus wept like a lost city, the spiritual condition of man, the sorrows of others….ITS TIME TO GO BACK TO JORDAN
17. When you have lost your spiritual strength, and do not even realize it. ITS TIME TO GO BACK TO JORDAN!!!
JORDAN IS THE PLACE WHERE……………
• Jesus baptized
• Heavens opened
• The Spirit of God came upon him
JORDAN IS THE PLACE WHERE……………
• Where john preached the message of repentance
• No room for hypocrisy
• A place of turning back to God with all of your heart
• Religious people rebuke, time for playing church is over!
JORDAN
• Joshua crossed on way to promised land
• The priests put the ark on their shoulders and the children of Israel folowed
• Submit to and obey your leaders
• Ark stands for the presence of God
JORDAN
• Place where Elisha got a double portion of anointing
• The mantle fell upon Him
• Reward for faithful service
• persistance
John 11:6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was. Vs:7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
Vs:33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, Vs:34 And said, Where have ye laid him?
When jesus was shown where lazarus was laid,.he decreed a thing and it came to pass. You should also dcree a thing and it shall come to pass
• Martha spoke about lazarus
• Mary spoke about larazus
• The mourners spoke about lazarus
• BUT JESUS SPOKE TO LAZARUS
The biggest challenge in the body of Christ is that many people are speaking about their mountains instead of speaking to their mountains
Others are speaking a bout their storms instead of speaking to their storms. This is the same problem that the children of Israel had when they were being intimidated by Goliath. Unlike them, David spoke to goliath…and he won the battle.
When the going gets tough,..GO BACK TO JORDAN and start prophesying to your dry bones!!
