There has been a question that has been in my Spirit. How important is light in a world so dark? By asking this question where a country is divided by race, culture and yes even political affiliation. Where nations are forbidden Christians to witness the True Gospel of the True and Living God. Where drugs aren’t a thing of the past. Where kids are in danger of bullying in school while some kids are endangering themselves by vaping.
There is hope and His name is Jesus. Jesus declares and proclaims to be the Light of the World. Jesus is that light and it shines even in the darkest heart. His glow of light will shine into the hearts of mankind everywhere.
Here are some things to remember when you let Jesus shine in your life:
I.WALK IN THE LIGHT SO YOU WILL BE BLESSED. When you’re in the Light of Jesus Christ, it reveals the favor of God in our daily walk. Being the blessing of the Light is so much MORE than material things but it’s the Lord’s presence and peace that hovers over us at home, work and community.
The writer in Psalm 89:15 tells us, “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.”
II.WALK IN THE LIGHT AS YOUR SPIRITUAL BIRTHRIGHT. When we walk in the Light of Jesus Christ is a birthright to those who are the Children of Abraham through covenant. “Come descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord” Isaiah 2:5. Remember, we are the stars in the sky and the sand by the seashore that represented Abraham’s seed through Issac. This is our spiritual heritage that leads every believer down the path of victory over sin and death. We are no longer slaves and captives, and we are free to accomplish everything that God has called us to be complete.
IV.WALK IN THE LIGHT OF JESUS. “I am the light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness” John 8:12. When walking in the light of Jesus, it is a light that leads you in the right direction for God’s purpose but, be mindful this light doesn’t excuse us of our sins, but instead His sacrifice brings us to a place of repentence with a desire to change course.
V.WALK IN THE LIGHT AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT. Walking as children of light means obedience to our Heavenly Father resisting those temptations that will get you to disobey. As children of light, we obey what the Bible teaches us to walk by faith.
“You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” John 12:35-36. We can move in the right direction even if we can’t always see the next steps. In other words, ACT LIKE YOU BELONG TO JESUS!!!!
VI.WALK IN THE LIGHT TO HAVE RIGHT RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS. Things like constant conflict, backbiting as well as strife cannot survive in the light. The ones who only consistently walk in the light of Christ can enjoy the fruitful and loving relationships. 1 John 1:7 tells us that,” But if we walk in the light, as he is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all evil.” Fellowship and love that we have for the people of God is revealed as the light that shines from within. You don’t have to announce every time that you’re a Christian but show it from inside out.
VII.WALKING THE LIGHT. If nothing else remember this, that walking in the light is to be a daily commitment in order to living out a righteous life. If this message compels you to walk in the light and resist fellowship with darkness of the devil, must the world or even the flesh. Walking in the light is a life journey that we who are the children of light must walk and walk alone.
Now, let me talk to those of you who’s still in the dark about your life, if you keep walking in the direction, you are in, you’ll stumble in darkness until I see those light shines in my life. I don’t have to stumble in the dark anymore but like in Psalm 27:1 that “The Lord is my light and salvation whom shall I fear?”. In the conclusion of Psalm 27,” wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait I say, on the Lord” Psalm 27:14.
May the Light of Jesus shine on you in every way every day. Amen.
