The Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 9:6-7 declared:
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
All over the globe, the Christmas season is marked with great joy, celebrations, exchange of gifts and expression of love. The weather though different from Continents to continents and geographical zones to zones, all portrays and expresses a season of celebration as you will hear over and over again, Merry Christmas!
Yes, merriment was it when Isaiah prophesied it, merriment was it when the Holy Savior Jesus was Born in a Manger in the tribe of Bethlehem of Judea and merriment it is today and every day we celebrate the unique and wonderful birth of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew records:
Matthew 2:1-2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
His birth even as it is unto this day is associated with gifts and worship. The wisemen came to give and to worship. Wisemen even till date and forever still seek Jesus to give their lives and to worship Him. The reason is simple, He first gave Himself for our sins, God the Father gave Him to us for our salvation. John puts it this way:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
He gave out of love for the salvation of mankind.
The Prophet Isaiah clearly saw it; unto us a child is born, a son is given.
Jesus is a great gift to the world, He is not just a child born but a gift to the world, a king even at birth. The Wisemen knew this when they asked the King Herod:
Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. [Matthew 2:2].
Clearly, forever Jesus is the head of the church for the government is upon His shoulders as clearly stated in
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the foundation of truth. The only sure firm and solid foundation upon which life must be built. The Bible decleared it and we know it to be very true:
1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Jesus is really wonderful in all things and all times, no wonder His name answers to all things. Thank you Lord for giving us your son Jesus, thank you Jesus for every knee bow at the mention of your name.
Philippians 2:9
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Knowing Jesus Christ is the key to understanding all of God’s wondrous works. Jesus is more than “the reason for the season.” Jesus is the reason for all Creation.
Ephesians 3:9:
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
No doubt, Jesus is wonderful!
His name is wonderful because the Lord is wonderful in all His ways, and in all His works.
Psalm 40:5:
Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
His name is wonderful because in his name, God is magnified.
Psalm 34:3:O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Celebrate the Prince of Peace, our Emmanuel, our Savor and Father as again, He remains the reason for the season. In Him is merriment evermore, merriment here on earth and hereafter in heaven. Oh what joy awaits every believer at His appearing?
Merry Christmas!
