So many people these days view sex as a casual thing to do with anybody at any time. If you take a good look at the TV shows, movies, magazines, books, and websites on the Internet, you can see that our society is literally saturated with sex. We hear sex therapists talking about how to improve our sex lives. We see TV shows and read magazines on how to have the best sex ever. They give ideas on where, when, how, and who. They promise happiness will come when your sex life is on fire. Actresses and actors in Hollywood set an impossible standard of beauty saying if we look a certain way, we're sexy and to be desired.
Several boys in junior high and high school see sex as a rite of passage...their goal is to get as many girls in bed as possible. The more girls they have sex with, the better their reputations. They're viewed as studs and ladies men. They're revered in a messed-up sort of way. Girls tend to view sex as a way of getting closer to their boyfriends or a way of finding the love they didn't receive at home. Some girls have sex because of being introduced to it through molestation or any other sexual abuse. Unfortunately for them, girls who have sex with several boys are viewed as the kind of girls you don't bring home to mother.
Even worse, several shows and movies not only promote fornication, but homosexuality, adultery, and various kinds of sex that goes against nature. They make it look so sexy and glamorous. They call extramarital affairs a way of expanding your horizons sexually. They call having homosexual sex a fun experiment to find out what you like because they say a woman knows what a woman wants. Pornography is seen as a sex manual; a way to spice up your marriage, a way to learn how to have sex, a way to escape the real world, a thing to do to pass time.
But what isn't really talked about is the consequences. Yes, we know about AIDS, HIV, STDS, Hepatitis C, unexpected pregnancies, ruined relationships, broken marriages, and heartbreak. But what about the spiritual aspect of having sex when you're not supposed to and with somebody, you're not supposed to be intimate with?
Well, the Bible speaks a great deal about sexual immorality. What is sexual immorality? Sexual immorality is any kind of sex that goes against God's plan. What was God's plan for sex? His plan was for sex to be enjoyed within the boundaries of marriage between a man and a woman. Sex was created for the glory of God. When a married couple has sex with each other, it glorifies God because in essence, sex is spiritual. I say that because when this act is going on, it's a connecting of souls. When two souls connect through sex, they bond together in the spirit realm. And this bond can't be easily broken.
When you have sex with somebody, everything that's in them goes into you and everything in you goes into them. When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Their personality traits (good, bad, and ugly), their habits, their sins, their generational curses, their demons, and the soul ties they have with their previous partners. So, you see, you weren't just having sex with that one person, you were having sex with them and ALL their previous sexual partners. And with each person you have sex with, the number of soul ties and spirits entering you multiplies. Have you ever had a friend or family member be one way for years, but change after getting with a particular man or woman? Have you noticed the change in their personality and habits? The way they act, talk, dress? Do they seem unfamiliar to you? Have you lost your relationship with them due to the new way they acted and talked? Well, what you were encountering wasn't the real them. You were dealing with one of the soul ties that had taken up residence inside of them. They're not psycho. They're not evil. They're bound to several people in the spirit realm, and nobody truly knows for sure what those people were or are into. While people do have a choice on how they will act and what they'll do, they can't break the tie that is influencing them to do and say things contrary to who they are. It is only through repentance, renouncing, and living the holy life that will break those ties.
1 Corinthians tells us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and that sexual immorality is a sin against our very own bodies. Think about it for a minute. Would you want the Holy Spirit to live in a temple that is defiled by the spirits of other people? No. That would grieve Him and when somebody is grieved by another, they eventually leave. It's not worth it, people. Sexual immorality not only opens you up to physical problems, but emotional and spiritual.
There is no sex that is so great that is worth your soul. If you're still a virgin, remain that way until marriage. Stay away from anything that will tempt you to awaken your sexuality before its time. If you're dating somebody trying to push you into a sexual relationship despite your boundaries, dump them. It's not worth it and there are plenty of people who are looking for somebody who respects themselves and their body. If you've already fallen into the trap of sexual immorality, it's not too late for a new beginning. Repent of your sins, renounce the lifestyle and soul ties, and start to live a holy and pure life.
