125.5 Begin at Home
The prolific author and scholar C.S. Lewis replied to Catholic priest Don Giovanni Calabria in a March 27, 1948 letter. Calabria had sent him “A Litany of Humility” (composed by Catholic Cardinal Merry Del Val) on the dangers of being too aware of global worries and forgetting to help people close at hand.
In his response, Lewis wrote:
Everywhere things are bubbling and uneasy – wars and rumours of wars: perhaps not the final hour but certainly times most evil. Nevertheless, the Apostle bids us “Rejoice.” …
I believe the men of this age … think too much about the state of the nations and situation of the world. … We are not kings, we are not senators. Let us beware lest, while we torture ourselves in vain about the state of Europe, we neglect either Verona or Oxford. …
As a patriot, you know the world's condition is worsening daily. You understand that the Deep State intends to take down America and rule the world. Christian Americans downplay the reality, but unlike Europe in WWII, no one will come to our aid if America goes down. The world will be lost to evil in all its forms.
We feel the angst of the situation and realize most Americans do not share our concerns. We also recognize that we will have little impact on the whole world. What shall we do? We cannot sit back and let the Dark Ages return; we must DO something. Lewis gave us the same answer as General Michael Flynn. We start locally and ripple out.
In American history, each colony recruited a militia to protect its citizens. Locally, groups like the Lexington Minutemen stood ready to assist their local communities whenever danger threatened as the British marched on Lexington and Concord—the locals who had trained for such an event gathered to withstand the Redcoat threat. When the time was right, the local groups joined the colonial militias, forming the Continental Army.
We have a similar set-up today. Each state has National Guard units that aid their local citizens when necessary. In times of war, the President can call these Guard units into active military service. They start locally.
Jesus gave His disciples a worldwide mission. He said they (and we) were to make other disciples of all the nations. That was daunting for the eleven apostles and even the 120 who gathered in Jerusalem. Jesus broke down the plan into more manageable steps when He said they would go to “Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth” in Acts 1:8.
This is a lesson for us. We are hurrying to set things right in the world and reclaim the freedoms we lose daily. We are eyewitnesses to America’s dismantling in real-time by demonic forces. We are awakened to what we are losing, which angers and threatens us.
Many of us understand the issues before us and the implications for our children and grandchildren. We identify with Thomas Paine’s famous quote:
I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children can live in peace.
Thomas Paine was an English-born American writer and political pamphleteer whose Common Sense pamphlet and Crisis papers influenced America’s War for Independence. Let me give you a few more quotes to rouse our spirits.
• Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.
• Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.
• The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind.
• These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. (The American Crisis)
These are indeed trying times. The Deep State has notified us they plan to take over the world by 2030. In the overthrow, we will “own nothing and be happy,” according to Klaus Schwab, one of WEF's leaders.
Karl Marx (1818-1883) hated religion and private property. He made a pact with the devil to dominate humanity and make government our god instead of the LORD. Satan deceived Adam and Eve into relinquishing man’s dominion on the earth. Throughout the ages, the evil one has assaulted every unalienable right to put us under his authority. Marx was a tool of his tyranny who is no longer deluded about the reality of God and Satan. He sees the truth about God firsthand, just like Lazarus in Luke 16.
We did not get into our current condition overnight. We want it to go away immediately, but it will not. The wicked Marxist Communists have been chipping away at the sovereignty of nations for generations to return us to Babel and a one-world government.
The best way we can fight back is one step at a time. We begin at home and ripple out into our states and nation. Start in your Jerusalem with the gospel of Jesus. As people wake up to their need for a Savior, they will also see the blessings of Liberty He offers. Just like our American Founders and Framers, we must begin with Christ. A Godless Constitution is of no value. Our twenty-third President, Benjamin Harrison, said of the Bible:
If you take out of your statutes, your Constitution, your family life, all that is taken from the Sacred Book, what would there be left to bind society together?
We also need to tell our friends and neighbors about the benefits of the American Constitution. Join a civic group like the JBS or some other organization that will equip you with Constitutional knowledge and help you find ways to restore public awareness of that great document one community at a time.
Be sure you are part of a church engaged in the battle to reclaim the souls of Americans and America. Too many disengaged churches and church leaders ignore the threat to the nation and our local communities.
We won’t retake all that we have lost in a few days. We won’t reclaim America with a new president. We must learn to first rely on God and then flow into politics and the government. The motto on our money reads, “In God We Trust.” Do we? Will we?
Let’s begin where we are with what we have: push back the darkness and Keep The Light of God’s Word and a “firm reliance on Providence” Burning!
