Bible Passage: Isaiah 60:19 - The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.
OASIS WORD FOR TODAY
Light in biblical context depicts a beacon of guidance, a source of hope, and an embodiment of Truth.
We admit to the fact that we truly live in dark times, a world where trouble blows from all angles and an age of uncertainties. This is where the potency of this scripture becomes more realistic. Everything shall be changed for the better.
The underlying goal of Isaiah 60:19 is one of transformation, divine illumination, and restoration. It reminds us that God's presence and light are not transient or subject to change like the sun or moon. Rather, His light is everlasting and unbendable, guiding us in every aspect of life.
Jesus is the Light and the glory of each one of us. For him to be your Light means that he will enable you to recognize his truth and to walk in it.
For Him to be your glory means that you no longer have to struggle to gain significance and recognition, but can give up that struggle with a sigh of relief, knowing that His reality and honor will invade your life, and you will find your true self in him and his service.
Jesus is our everlasting light. One day He will replace the sun and the moon.
Rev 21:23-24 And the city does not need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. This is what Isaiah is talking about here. The Lord will be our everlasting light.
Historically, Isaiah's words painted a vision for Israel's nation then in exile and longing for restoration. They yearned for the days when God's glory would once again shine brightly amidst them.
Yet, beyond this immediate hope, there lies an even more profound anticipation: the arrival of Jesus, the one who declared, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).
What resonance does this hold for us today? Our world has its shades of darkness-varying challenges, personal heartaches, and perplexing crossroads.
But as we navigate these shadowed paths, the promise of God's "everlasting light" serves as a luminous beacon of hope. Even when encased in the deepest night, we are assured of His guiding presence, reminding us we're never truly isolated or astray.
Let God be the light of your life right now. In Him is everything we need to survive. That light does more than just illuminate our path, it fills us with the warmth of His Son.
No matter the trial or temptation that will come to you, He can illuminate any darkness. Don’t focus on the darkness but search for the light and go towards it. He can be found even in the darkest of situations. Call to Him and He will find you. Seek Him and you will find the everlasting light. Shalom Aleikhim!
