Summary: A relationship can only be as secure as you trust each other—trust in the Lord, not in your own understanding. We do not have a better way. Dare to trust God.

Establishing a solid and enduring bond in a relationship primarily hinges on the foundation of trust. Trust contains the highest level of certainty in a partner's faithfulness. Trust fosters a profound sense of security and love. It is intricately linked to a state of peace and genuine happiness.

Placing trust in your partner and relying on their reliability, cultivates the self-assurance that is vital for a lifelong commitment. It facilitates a deep connection where emotions and dreams are shared deeply. Conversely, the absence of trust within a relationship can give rise to discrepancies that erode its quality. The reassurance that your partner actively protects and cherishes the connection forms a resilient foundation, ensuring a relationship's endurance and longevity.

The unfortunate experience for a large percentage of all people is that you can trust very few people. Sometimes trusting people is like leaning with your full weight on a spider web.

I must admit that previously, I was not someone who could be relied upon. Through my actions, I have disappointed friends, family, and most significantly, myself. The unfortunate reality of existence is that during our lowest moments, we discover the fickleness inherent in human nature.

There is one we can trust with everything that is within us and He will never forsake or let us down. That is our Father God. God knows our weaknesses and that it is impossible to trust humans to fulfill and meet all the requirements of life.

Beginning with the first man, Adam, all trust was shattered when Eve yielded to temptation from the serpent, The serpent's cunning tactic involved sowing seeds of doubt by questioning, "Did God truly speak those words?" This cunning ploy aimed to instill mistrust towards God and His word. This lasting consequence has persisted through generations, causing people to struggle in putting their faith in God's word and, consequently, in trusting Him.

During the Second World War, an aircraft was landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier. As the plane touched the deck it dropped the tailhook but missed the arresting wire across the deck of the carrier to absorb the energy and bring the plane to a stop. The airplane went straight across the deck and fell into the sea. The people in the control tower watched and listened on the radio as the plane coughed and spluttered and slowly climbed out of the sea and became airborne. Once it was totally in the air the men listened on the radio and heard the pilot say, “OK God I will take over now.”

For most of our lives we tend to use and try everything we can and only when all fails do we turn to God and ask for His wisdom, help, or a miracle. I have ministered extensively in Africa and experienced many miracles and people healed after prayer, contrasted to the lack of miracles in the urban area where I live. I have concluded that in most rural areas they have no medical aids or sophisticated medical facilities, they simply believe because there are no other options.

We have money, doctors, modern medical equipment, and much more. Most of us can use our abilities to generate income. We can buy homes, food, and clothing without using too much faith.

Psalm 118:8-9 It is better to trust in the LORD

Than to put confidence in man.

9 It is better to trust in the LORD

Than to put confidence in princes.

It can be argued depending on what Bible version you are using, but most calculate that chapter Psalm 118 is the center chapter of the bible and verse 8 is right in the center.

The longest chapter is Psalm 119.

The shortest chapter is Psalm 117.

There are exactly 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and exactly 594 chapters after it.

594 multiplied by 2 equals 1188 Psalm 118:8

For me, this seems just right because apart from our first love, to love God with all our heart, mind, and strength it is vital that our love is rooted in our trust in God. The center of our lives should be to believe God and His word without any doubt.

Most problems arise because we want to save ourselves, and most often we are impatient. Waiting for God is not a strong characteristic of many of our lives. I have found that whenever I try to work it out for myself, I make crucial mistakes.

We read that in Genesis 12 God speaks to Abram and tells him to leave his father’s house and go to a land that God would show him and that God would make him a great nation. Abram was 75 years old and he obeyed God and did as God had told him to do.

In Genesis 15 Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!”

And God said, “No he is not your heir”. Your heir will come from your own body. Then God took Abram outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you can number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

Now in Genesis 16 Sarai, says that she has been unable to give Abram a child. To solve the problem Sarai gives her Egyptian maidservant Hagar to her husband and tells him to have a child with her. Abram listened to his wife Sarai and then Hagar, conceived and bore Abram a son; and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar gave birth to Ishmael.

Genesis 17 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you and will multiply you exceedingly.” 3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 4 “As for Me, behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.

Genesis 17:15-17 Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. 16 And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.” 17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!”

19 Then God said: “No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly.

Abram and Sarai never asked God. A result of Unbelief arising out of their circumstances caused them to act on their plan. Do it for God.

I have often encountered individuals expressing the notion of being realistic.

On certain occasions, it feels as though time is working against us, burdened by the weight we bear or overwhelmed by insufferable anguish. Amidst worry and anxiety, we find ourselves compelled to assume control and apply our human intellect to resolve our problems or interpret the divine promises in our manner.

We cannot be double-minded. Either we trust God’s word or determine that we have a better way.

James 1:2-8 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Faith consists of patiently submitting, waiting for the Lord's time, and doing only what He wants. Carnal wisdom cannot please God, it is an enemy of God, and only faith pleases God. Prayer and asking for his word on the matter will produce fruit that will never let you down.

Romans 8:6-8 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

We may criticize the Apostle Peter for sinking when Jesus called Him to walk on water but he was the only disciple who had the boldness to ask Jesus to call him to walk on water.

Matthew 14:28-29 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

Peter may have been seen to be on the water but really, he was walking on the word that Jesus had spoken. As long as he kept the Word in focus, I think he would have reached Jesus the living Word. As soon as his mind focused on the waves and the distance to Jesus. When he focused on the law of nature, he began to sink

To be "carnal minded" refers to someone who is fleshly, and opposed to spiritual. A carnal mind focuses on the natural. A legalistic person tries to obey the law with his ability. Such a mind cannot please God it is an enemy against God.

A carnal-minded Christian is a Christian who talks of loving God but when the storms of life arrive doubt creeps in and takes over. He is driven up and down by every different teaching.

Instead of trusting God’s word every calamity, epidemic, or economic downswing changes and influences his ability to trust the word. He is unstable in all his ways and believes in conspiracy theories.

Proverbs 3:1-8 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;

2 For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart,

4 And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh And strength to your bones.

The center of all our lives is to trust in God and lean on Him. A relationship can only be as secure as you are willing to trust. I challenge you today I Dare you to trust God.
