Summary: The work of the HS is to be relied on for a Spiritually healthy church

The work of the Holy Spirit.

A. The setting apart. (V.2, 4)

1. Illustration of special forces being set apart

B. The enabling. (v.9-12)

1. God doesn’t so much give us the ability as He does works through us.

2. When do what we are called to do, He works through that to accomplish His will.

3. Its never us that has the power, it is always God who responds to our obedience.

II. Being filled with the Spirit.

A. You must first be saved.

B. We are already indwelt with the Spirit.

C. Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? I Cor 3:16

D. Being filled w/ the Spirit doesn’t mean we get more of Him.

E. It means we are submitting to His leading in our hearts.

F. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

G. We cannot accomplish the things of God if we are not filled with the Spirit.

H. Submitting to the Spirit can be difficult and trying if you are not used to it.

I. Feeding the flesh instead of submitting to the Spirit can appear more enjoyable and easier.

Gospel preached.

A. They were secure with their calling. (Boldness)

1. Even though you are intimidated to share doesn’t mean you cannot be bold

2. If you are waiting to feel comfortable it will never happen.

B. They were secure with the message. (Clarity)

1. Is the message real?

2. Is it true?

3. Do you fully understand it?

4. Then go

C. They were secure with whom they were to go to. (Mission)

1. To whom do we take it to?

2. Where do we go?

3. How do we know where to go?

4. Listen to Jesus.

Filled with Joy is tied to being filled with the Spirit.

A. They had just been through this difficult time.

1. No matter how difficult life is we must be faithful to the mission.

2. The difficulties do not indicate that we should not engage or that we should slow down.

B. Yet they were filled with Joy

1. They continued with the mission.

2. They remembered their calling and continued to be bold.

3. They remained secure with their message and held on to the clarity.
