Leviticus 11:45
For I am the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy."
I think Church Leaders need more than one eye to supervise every area connected to church, which includes: staircase, parking lot, terrace, store room, canteen etc. Without proper monitoring of the corridors of the church, unhealthy stuff may subtly enter in. Caveat! It's important I write this!
Besides pastor and the family, church helpers, Choir members, Translators, Church instrument players, worship leaders etc everyone should maintain order and proper demeanor. An ordinary believer not only admires and respects the pastor and other people standing on the pulpit (holy area) but they also expect them to be holy, matured and outstanding in character.
It is not sufficient to learn music , instrument or know how to pray with scriptures, but it is equally very important that holiness is carried with you, off pulpit too, be it choir member, worshiper, preacher etc. If you are one standing in the pulpit every Sunday, even your friends, colleagues and relatives expect you to be unique with godly language and behavior.
Male church co-worker should treat female co-workers as sisters and never hang around " women territory" in church and vice versa too, women stay away from male zone. Empty talks, guffaws and jokes are subtle way of flirting . Stay away!
Married men/ women have greater responsibility. I can tell umpteen incidents of ugly affairs inside church premises too; therefore, it is important we be alert. Your "I surrender all" is put to test when a pretty woman asks you for a lift in the night, bluntly say NO. Pleasing God requires determination!
After translating for my sermon, a young married man called the church girls in the parking lot as 'hi baby'. Imagine! Behave yourself inside and outside church too. If you had weakness for women in the past and you were a womaniser then even in office stay away from 'women territory'. Taboo!
I just cannot forget one particular middle aged village pastor, who had no children, he was on fire for God and would always passionately run for God day and night. I had visited his church in his village several times and ministered there continuously 3 days, staying in a room attached to his house. A young hindu girl, who was unable to walk attended the meeting and got connected to the pastor for prayers. Slowly the demon inside her started drawing the pastor towards her and his ministry slowly collapsed with him making many other serious errors. I witnessed the downfall of this wonderful man, not him alone many others too. Having a girlfriend outside marriage is very common in the secular world, this demon should never enter the church. Elders got to be vigilant and alert! 2 Peter 3:14 “So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. “
Be squeaky clean for God!
2 Corinthians 7:1
"Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God."
