INTRODUCTION:
1) If I was to ask you what are the most important teachings of the Word of God what would you say?
A) Perhaps you would speak of God’s love, or of his grace; Maybe you would describe sin and forgiveness, or of the doctrine of Christ, or of baptism, or some other doctrine.
2) Certainly, all these doctrines are among the most important teachings of Scripture, and I will be looking at each of these in this series.
3) This morning, and for the four Sundays after today I want us to look at what I believe are the five most important teachings of the entire Word of God.
A) Certainly, in this study we will not be covering or dealing with every verse of Scripture, but at the same time I believe that nearly every passage of Scripture deals with one of these five teachings.
B) Today in this first message I want us to look at the fact that “A Loving God Created Our World.
I. ) GOD IS BEFORE ALL ELSE HAS COME TO EXIST.
1.) Look with me to Genesis 1:1
A.) Somebody please read for me the first four words of Genesis 1:1.
aa.) “In the beginning, God”
aaa.) If I was the one translating this passage of Scripture, I would have placed an exclamation mark after these first four words.
B.) The book of Genesis sets the foundation for all that comes after it in the Scriptures.
ba.) The basic understanding of both Scripture, and of life is that before there was anything, there was God.
II) GOD HAS CREATED ALL THINGS.
1) Let us look at the second half of Genesis 1:1
A) “God created the heavens and the earth.”
B) We are looking at a declaration that this world is not some kind of cosmic accident.
ba.) The declaration of God as creator declares that the commonly taught “Big Bang” is not correct.
2) The declaration of God as creator debunks the idea of evolution.
A) In 1859 Charles Darwin developed his theory of evolution.
aa.) According to this theory our world has come into existence from nothing, and after a Big bang of nothingness exploding, has developed, nothing to be transformed into something, and what now is in life.
ab.) In theory life continues to evolve to a higher existence than what now is.
ac.) The problem with this is that even to the present day there is no proof or evidence of evolution.
aca.) What is even more astounding is that though there is zero proof of evolution it is being taught and proclaimed as authentic truth.
.01) If something seems like foolishness to happen over a hundred years of time, suddenly becomes the mind of a genius if we add a few more zeros to the equation.
acb.) In fact, there are many things that completely disprove this theory of Darwin.
.01) Our human bodies prove that evolution is false.
.011) Our human bodies are made up of ten separate systems that are completely independent of each other, and yet in order to function must do so with interdependence on each other.
.012) In our bodies the ten systems are: the skeletal system the muscular system, the circulatory system, the digestive system, the Urinary System, The Nervous System, the Reproductive System, the Lymphatic system, the Endocrine system, and the Respiratory system.
.013) Each of these systems of the body are completely independent of all others, but any one of these systems can only properly work when all ten systems work together.
.0131) Evolutionists are not able to say which one of these systems would have been first to evolve, or how it is possible to have any one of these systems without the other nine in the body.
.02) A second proof that evolution is false is the lack of transitional fossils.
.021) If this world is continually in a state of evolution there should be an endless quantity of fossils of life forms between what they are now, and what they once were.
.022) We have supposedly come from apes, but there are no fossils that are halfway between apes and human beings.
.0221) Further to this, if we have descended from apes and are a higher life form than they, why are there still apes on this earth?
.
0222) All apes should have ceased to exist with the higher life form of humans on this earth.
.03) Another proof that evolution is false is the population of this world.
.031) As a general rule the population of this world doubles about every forty years.
.032) Even adding into that equation sickness, disease, and catastrophic events the population of this world should now be 1 X 10 to 100th power.
.033) Our world is only a small fraction of that number.
.034) There are many other proofs that the theory of Evolution is false, so if it can be proven to be false, why do so many still hold to it?
.035) The reason the theory of evolution continues to be taught is what it means if we look at the alternative to evolution.
B) There are basically two views on how this world has come to exist.
ba.) Evolution can be proven to be false.
bb.) The problem with that is that it really leaves only one other viable answer to this world and how it has come into existence:
bba.) If you exclude the Big Bang and Evolution, the other alternative that people are left with is Genesis 1:1
.01) “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
.02) With that as the only other viable option scientists will ignore the proofs against evolution so they do not have to admit the existence of God.
C) Another problem with evolution is that we are only presented with half of Darwin’s teaching on evolution because the other half would be very distasteful to most human beings.
ca.) See other portions that are not taught is the idea that men are smarter and more advanced than women because on average we have larger brains than women.
caa.) While most of us would not believe that you can rapidly understand why teachings on evolution such as that are not told with the rest of the package.
cab.) Another untaught aspect of the theory of evolution is that the white Caucasian race is more advanced, and developed than other races.
.01) Does that sound familiar?
.011) It should because that was much of the ideology of Adoloph Hitler with his view of the Superior Aryian race.
.02) You see, these are other parts of the Theory of evolution, which are not taught because it would make it much harder to sell this unproven theory to the world.
III) GOD HAS CREATED ALL THINGS BY HIS WORD.
1) Note the descriptions of the origin of this world.
A) Genesis 1:1,3, 6-7, 9-10, 11-12, 14, 20, 24, 26
2) Not only had God created all things, but he created all things by merely his word.
A) If God created all things by the power of his Word, then God created all things from himself.
B) As to why, so many reject these teachings, the answer is in 2 Peter 3:5
ba.) Note what Peter says: “They deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the Word of God.”
bb.) You see evolution can be proven to be false, but the facts are rejected, because the only other answer to the creation of this world is that God has created this world.
bba.) When a person rejects God, it is easy to accept anything else no matter how ridiculous than to put one’s faith in the Almighty God as the creator of life.
C) Romans 1: 18-25
ca.) If we were to continue reading this portion of Scripture, we would also see that every manner of sexual perversion, and wickedness, and much of the sinful attitudes of this world come from not acknowledging the Almighty God as the creator of all things.
caa.) I would see the fact that God is the Creator of All things as one of the greatest teachings in the Bible.
cab.) It is in the acknowledgement of that truth there is order, understanding of life, and of God.
cac.) It is in the failure to acknowledge God as the Creator that man has nothing higher to look to than himself, or his own values, and thoughts.
2) Not only has God created this world from his very being he has also created this world with love for his creation.
A) Certainly, God looked favourably on everything he had created.
aa.) Genesis 1:31
B) In as much as all of God’s creation was good, all of creation was designed as a gift to the highest part of his creation – human beings.
ba.) Our loving God made mankind as the supreme of his creation.
baa.) We are the only part of creation that has been made in the image of God.
.01) Genesis 1:26-27
.02) We are the only part of creation besides God Himself that has been given dominion over the rest of creation.
.021) Genesis 1:28
.03) God gave every green plant that bears seed as food for humanity.
.031) Does that mean that any green plant today that bears seeds, or the fruit of any tree that bears seeds we can eat?
.032) In regard to that I would say that at the time of creation this was certainly true.
.032) Rather that is still true today, I cannot say.
.0321) See today we live in a fallen world. We live in a world that now is under a curse because of the sins in Eden.
.033) It is entirely possible that since the fall there are even new plants that have come into this world that bear seeds but are not edible to us.
IV) REASONS WHY THE CREATION OF THE WORLD IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TEACHINGS OF THE ENTIRE BIBLE.
1) Creation teaches us what God is like, and How he acts.
2) Creation tells us that God has absolute ownership and authority over all things.
A) That means that God has the right to give his direction and will to humanity.
B) God has the authority to tell us what his will is, and more than this he has the authority to expect us to live according to His will.
3) Creation tells us that we have been made in the image of God.
A) We have been made by a Loving God.
aa.) As a loving parent we love to hear that our children look like us and resemble us.
ab.) Physically we may not have the appearance of our God, but his person is imprinted in our lives.
ac.) Being made in the image of God also means that we are the only part of creation with the imprint of our creator on us.
4) Becoming part of Creation gave Jesus the authority to forgive sin.
A) Even before the cross, Jesus showed himself to be God.
aa.) As God he forgave sins, changed the course of nature and the natural world,
ab.) Because he came as part of the world, he had himself created, he can set the standard, and to provide the answer to our need of salvation.
CONCLUSION:
1) All these things considered I would have to conclude that the doctrine of a loving God creating this world is one of the five most important doctrines in all the word of God.
A) In the following four weeks I want us to look at four more of these teachings which I would describe as the five most important teachings in all the Word of God.
B) Next week as we look at the second of the Five most important teachings of Scripture, we will see that “Man Needs a Saviour.
