1st Kings 4
Solomon Lives with Wisdom
Joshua promised the Israelites this land would be a place flowing with milk and honey.
Solomon sees this promise come to pass.
In many ways, Solomon is the new Adam. He’s ruling over the earth, seeing Eden restored.
1 Kings 4:29-34 NIV
God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. 30 Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. 33 He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. 34 From all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.
God’s wisdom is limitless and If God’s wisdom isn’t limited, then our thoughts can break crippling boundaries.
We’re all born with limitations, but God’s wisdom is the path forward.
Story of me reading The Last of the Mohicans by James Fennimore Cooper in the school library.
God’s wisdom makes us curious.
The wise men stayed curious.
Our spiritual senses are the sharpest when we’re exploring.
Why do we stay stuck and make unwise choices?
1. Immaturity – No one has taught us.
2. Fatigue – We need more naps
3. DUI - Decision Under the Influence
4. Pride – No can teach us.
Ecclesiastes 9:13-17 NIV
"I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me: 14 There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siege works against it. 15 Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. 16 So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded. 17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools."
“Quiet words of the wise” – Wisdom whispers to us.
“Shouts of a ruler of fools” – The world shouts at us.
Matthew 10:16 NKJV
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
