Whom shall I speak to?
Jeremiah 6:10 “To whom shall I speak and give warning That they may hear? Behold, their ears are closed And they cannot listen. Behold, the word of the LORD has become a reproach to them; They have no delight in it.”
Some students refuse to listen in the class, they are forever distracted or they downright are not interested to listen and learn. Well, adults are no better, we see the same attitude in the church as well, people come and leave without any desire for transformation. Even after years of church attendance, their wickedness, rebelliousness, recklessness, stubbornness, rashness, hardness has not changed one bit; after all, God is not going to forsake is their perception. Hearken to the Word today please! Jeremiah 6:17 "And I set watchmen over you, saying, 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet!' But they said, 'We will not listen.'
The Lord sadly says:” their ears are closed And they cannot listen. Behold, the word of the LORD has become a reproach to them; They have no delight in it.” Alas! Their ears are opened to cinema music, entertainment and all other trash but closed to God! James 1:22” says “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.” Anybody listening?
DEAF EARS:
I tried playing Gospel message, when an elderly atheist person visited my home, at least I felt he would listen to it; however, he loudly started reading the newspaper and drowned the Word of God. He did not allow his family to worship Jesus or read the Bible, he would blame me saying I was ‘unnecessarily interfering with his family’. He became wealthy with his diligent planning of finances, was very healthy because of his good eating habits, was respected at office, family members and at home. He was wise in everything but NO GOD in his life. After several years because of unwise decisions taken for his children, severe problems started in their life, he developed serious health issues and died. Punishment doesn’t come the next day after you rebel; nevertheless, it would come! Warning!
What makes people think that they can get away with their wickedness, sins and naughtiness??? May be too much of cucumber is being preached from the pulpit, without actually warning people. Jeremiah 6:14 says:”…. from the prophet even to the priest Everyone deals falsely. 14 "They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying, 'Peace, peace,' But there is no peace.”
We have a whole lot of people around us today, who have their ears clogged with headsets listening to either secular music or movie songs, all they need is a greater touch from God. I would like to share something with you’ll before I sign off. I met a young lab technician, I found him extremely efficient at his job, I decided to share Jesus with him, so I started my conversation like this,” we are Christian ministers”, he said ‘oh’. Then I continued, ‘when I was 5 months pregnant, I was diagnosed with multiple fibroids”, he said,” when I give injections, I look for veins..” His reply did not have anything to do with what I was talking, he stuck to medical language; I did not stop, I continued, “ Jesus healed me and I delivered a baby boy”, he said, “ all injections are not the same, you need to be patient in doing this.” His reply was absolutely contrary to what I was talking. Before I could finish, he took his bag and left with a smile. I sat there flummoxed. I realized he was spiritually deaf! The world needs JESUS and you are the one called to share Jesus with the lost world!
Uncircumcised ears!
Stephen said : Acts 7:51 "You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.”
The people were not ready to hear the voice of Stephen, they tightly shut their ears! Uncircumcised ears! If both the ears are plugged with headsets and blasting with hard music, how could one hear the voice of God? I was ministering to a young girl while staying in her home, she would nonchalantly listen to my advises but tightly plug her ears with the headset and listen to movie songs the whole day, starting from the wee hours of the day when she goes for her morning walk. I was pained to see her resist the voice of God! Alas! After a few months she was married and I saw her life shatter within few days of marriage because of her brutal husband. Uncircumcised ears lead you to disaster! I was told she is now seeking God!
Now, there are people who would say ‘Amen’ loudly when you preach but believe me, nothing has gone inside. I know of a man who would fall on the ground and worship while entering the church and very enthusiastically shout during the worship but the moment he steps out of the church, he would visit his girl friend behind his wife’s back. Uncircumcised, wicked ears! You can go to church and still be deaf! Your ears sure need a touch of God, so that the Gospel permeates into the mind and heart. Imagine God speaking to young Samuel while He bypassed the High Priest Eli who knows to identify the voice of God; yet, he failed to obey His voice and hence God stopped talking to Eli and He started talking to Samuel. When you say ‘no’, God would look and find someone who would say ‘yes!’ Are you hearing me?
My testimony: Back while working, I was able to sharply identify voices and answer people with their names which awed everyone – even after several years. I was one-up on that! Alas! I did not know the voice of my Redeemer, my Savior, my Creator and my Father; but God by His grace, chose to open my ears and circumcise them by taking me through series of pain, suffering, illness, failure, humiliation and rejection. Now, I wake up in the wee hours of the day to hear His voice! I start the day wishing my Jesus ‘good morning’!
The Lord says: Jeremiah 6:19 "Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people, The fruit of their plans, Because they have not listened to My words, And as for My law, they have rejected it also.” Let the people be warned today!
