GOD IN THE HANDS OF ANGRY SINNERS MARK 14:41-46
In just two weeks we will be celebrating the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Yes, Sunday, April 9th is Easter Sunday. Yes just in two weeks.
There are all kinds of questions that come out around this time of year and that is, “If Jesus was on the earth in 2023 would we treat Jesus the same way the people treated Jesus almost 2000 years ago?
And after thinking about this question, I have to answer, there is a great probability that we would treat Jesus the same way.
So with the Power and the Presence of the Holy Spirit I would like to preach on this topic GOD IN THE HANDS OF ANGRY SINNERS.
MARK 14:41-46

GOD IN THE HANDS OF ANGRY SINNERS
PRAYER
Before there could have been a resurrection – there had to be a crucifixion.
The night before Jesus’ crucifixion – And as Jesus was praying, Jesus was is so much agony we are told that His sweat became great drops of blood.
LUKE 22:44
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
And as Jesus was praying he heard the noise of the soldiers coming and lifting up His eyes He see a host of soldiers with their torches making their way to the garden.
Then he goes out to get His disciples and yet again for the third time they were sleeping.

Then the infamous kiss of death from Judas Iscariot
VS 44-45
Who was this Man who was taken by Angry Sinners? Who was this Man who was taken at a Traitors Kiss? Who was this Man who was taken by cruel hands?
ISAIAH 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
MATTHEW 1:23
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
I TIMOTHY 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Yes the One who was taken by angry sinners Yes the One who was betrayed by a kiss Yes the One who was taken by cruel hands IS GOD!!!
VS 46 AND THEY LAID THEIR HANDS ON HIM,
God in human flesh was now in the Hands of Angry Sinners
*I. VS 53 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS LED JESUS TO THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS
II. VS 65 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS HIT THE FACE OF JESUS.
The word buffet – to strike with the fist.
So mocking Jesus they covered Jesus’ face and mad their hands into a fist and started pounding Jesus’ face.
III. 15:15 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNER SCOURGED JESUS
IV. VS 16 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS LED JESUS AWAY
V. VS 17-18 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS MOCKED HIM
VI. VS 19 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS BEAT THE CROWN OF THRONS IN JESUS HEAD
VII. VS 20 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS RIPPED A BLOOD SOAKED ROBE OFF JESUS’ BACK
VIII. VS 20 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS LED JESUS TO BE CRUCIFIED
Because of the loss of blood and the lack of sleep Jesus could not carry His cross a man named Simon was picked out of the crowd to carry the cross for Jesus.
And in the midst of all this cruelty performed by wicked hands there appears if you study, some women who were lamenting and following Jesus with seemingly tender hands offered Jesus some mixture to ease His pain in VS 23
BUT HE (JESUS) RECEIVED IT NOT.
WHAT A SAVIOR WE HAVE!!!
Jesus would not die you our sin with a clouded mind or a dull spirit!!!
JESUS WOULD SWING ON THE NAILS AND LOOK AT DEATH FACE TO FACE
JESUS WOULD FACE THE KING OF TERROR WITHOUT EASING ON LITTLE PAIN
JESUS WOULD PASS THROUGH DEATHS DARK DOOR WITH HIS HEAD HELD HIGH
WHAT A GLORIOUS SAVIOR WE HAVE!!!!
IX. VS 24 ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS HUMILIATED JESUS AND STRIPPED OFF HIS CLOTHES
X. ANGRY HANDS OF SINNERS TOOK SPIKES AND NAILED JESUS’ HANDS AND FEET TO THE CROSS
Let us not forget this is God in the hands of Angry Sinners.
XI. ANGRY HANDS LIFTED THE CROSS TO A HOLE PREPARED FOR THE CROSS AND DROPPED THE CROSS IN IT
When this happened all of Jesus’ joints came out of joint at the same time.
PSALM 22:14
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
This is God in the hands of angry sinners.
And as Jesus was hanging there on the cross – bleeding – broken – and bruised.
Look at what the crowd and the religious people said.
VS 30-33
Are you still with me? Jesus could have called 10,000 angels – Jesus could have spoken a word and came off the cross.
But if He did there would be no SALVATION – REDEMPTION.
Angry Sinners Are Still saying that today
COME DOWN FROM THE CROSS I HAVE MY OWN WAY TO HEAVEN
COME DOWN FROM THE CROSS I HAVE MY BAPTISM – CHURCH MEMBERSHIP.
PRAISE THE LORD JESUS DID NOT COME DOWN FROM THE CROSS.
So the question is, why did Jesus who is All God have to be put in the hands of angry sinners.
II CORINTHIANS 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
HEBREWS 2:9
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
HEBREWS 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
I PETER 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
So why was Jesus put in the hands of angry sinners? To pay my sin debt and your sin debt.
And after Jesus had been in the hands of angry sinners what is the first thing Jesus says:
FATHER FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO.
And one of Jesus’ last statements on the cross
IT IS FINISHED
What a Savior
What A God
Jesus who did no sin – knew no sin – and could not sin because He is God
Was made sin for us.
And this morning with His wounded hands, Jesus is saying to us as sinners.
COME UNTO ME ALL YE THAT LABOUR AND ARE HEAVEY LADEN, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST!!!!
WILL YOU COME THIS MORNING AND RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR.
SAVED PERSON JESUS SHED HIS BLOOD FOR YOU – DIED FOR YOU – WAS BURIED FOR YOU – AND PRAISE THE LORD ROSE FROM THAT GRAVE TO PAY YOUR SIN DEBT.
YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE LOVE OF GOD
WE SHOULD LOVE HIM AND LIVE FOR HIM THAT IS NOT TO MUCH TO ASK FOR.
THIS MORNING WE LOOKED AT GOD IN THE HANDS OF SINNERS.
BUT IF YOU LEAVE THIS PLACE REJECTING JESUS CHRIST LISTEN TO
HEBREWS 10:31
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
You will stand before Jesus at the Great White Throne Judgment and you will see the wounds in His brow – wounds in His Hands and He will sentence you only because you have rejected Jesus Christ to an eternity in the Lake of Fire.
You do not have to go there but it is your choice!! Will you come to Jesus today!
