The Great Commission of evangelizing the world was given to the New Testament church. Jesus didn’t say anything that he didn’t mean. Our job is not complete until the convert is baptized. Baptism is not a secondary doctrine to be argued about.
I. Baptism Part of Great Commission
1. Matthew 28:19
2. We need to teach it and practice it. Jesus said so.
3. Teachers job not complete if converts in your class have not been baptized.
II. Bible Denies Baptism as Essential for Salvation
1. 1 Corinthians 1:14-18, if baptism is necessary, Paul wouldn’t have made this statement.
2. 1 John 1:7, blood of Christ cleanses from sin. Leviticus 17:11 and Ephesians 2:8-9
3. Baptism is the first commandment given by Christ to new converts. Something wrong with person who claims to be saved but won’t be baptized.
III. Bible Account of Sinners saved without Baptism.
1. Luke 5:17-26, man with palsy.
2. Luke 7:36-38, 44-50, the sinful woman who washed Jesus feet with her tears.
3. Luke 23:39-43, penitent thief on the cross. No time for baptism, good works, communion, etc.
4. Romans 10:9, it is confess Jesus and believe on Him with your heart. John 1:12 and Acts:21.
IV. Gospel is Power of God unto Salvation
1. Romans 1:16
2. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Baptism not a part of the gospel.
3. John 3:3-7, water Jesus spoke of not the water of baptism.
V. Baptism is for Believers Only
1. It is not for infants, Acts 2:41
2. All people who were baptized had to believe first.
VI. Jesus the only Begotten was Baptized as an Example not as a new Convert
VII. Baptism Show Identity with Christ
1. Romans 6:4-6, our identification, our uniform.
2. It is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection.
3. Would baptize means to immerse. Cover wholly with fluid. Dip. Jesus set the example.
VIII. Baptism is Answer of a Good Conscience Toward God.
1. No salvation without the blood of Christ.
2. No good conscience unless baptized.
