Why you do not see?
Isaiah 58:3 'Why have we fasted and You do not see?
For those who do not know, just want to inform you about the upcoming 40 days of fasting which Christians also call it Lent days. I have watched many people, do fasting after fasting….well, good…but let us also examine what God expects from us during those days of fasting on the basis of scriptures. Are you ready to listen and obey? Just mere listening would do no good…
Participate in His work/ Be a co-worker for God:
• Verse 3 - God says ‘on the day of your fast you find your desire’ – this is a strong complaint from God. We need to see what pleases God and do that even if we are not too keen in doing it. It is all about what the King wants! Amen. As we scroll down, He speaks about what pleases Him: "Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry, bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?(verse 7)
Now, now ,now… don’t think by just giving your tithes and offering, your job is over, God expects you to participate in His work. Reach out in whatever area you can and help in building the Kingdom of God: take Sunday class, join the choir, help in admin work at Church, go early to church and help in preparation work, make tea for the members, provide snacks for Church…find out opportunities to help rather than be a visitor and a member of the church for million years contributing NOTHING besides just throwing away some money. Are you listening?
Meet your pastor and ask him how you can be of help for the Church. Don’t be a thorn in the church but be a blessing.
Ruth my helper joined me when my son Joshua was an infant, well she was staying with us, after Joshua grew up and went to school, she said, ‘akka, I will help you in house work, after few years she said, ‘ aka I will help you in cooking, after we started our Church, she volunteered to clean the Church too, when we started our night prayers, she volunteered to make tea for the people, there was no end to her contribution. She fasted and prayed along with us. She worked 14 years with us, one day I got a call from a young man, who said, ‘sister, I would like to marry Ruth, I dont want dowry or gold, I just want Ruth.’ This young man had attended our meetings and watched Ruth help us. Isaiah 58:9 says: "Then you will call, and the LORD will answer!”
When we do the above , we don’t have to ask God, “'Why have we fasted and You do not see?
