THE IMPORTANCE OF FAITH
Hebrews 11: 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
We must believe God in order to have faith
We must believe the reality of God
Believe in his existence of God
Personal faith
2 Timothy 1:12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
I have trusted in the Lord
I have trusted Christ as my Saviour
I trust his finished work for payment for sin
We must trust him all time as Lord of my life
(2) Powerful faith in the HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 4:31And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
Greater is he than we
Given for victory over the world
Gift of God to all man kind
(3) Proven faith in the scriptures
Hebrews 11:13These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Stood test old & new testaments
Stand today in spite objections
Stand all tomorrows no matter what
(4) Planned faith
Philippians 4:
13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
I was saved by faith in Christ
I can be of service by obedience to his word
Separated from the world
(5) Pleasant faith
Colossians 1:10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Joy in our hearts love for each other
Meeting singing praying together
Evidence of love for the Lord
(6) Faith to win lost
Acts 20:20And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
21Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
(7) Faith to sacrifice
Romans 12:1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Our bodies for service
Our minds renewed have mind of Christ
Then the will of God becomes will of God
