Sanctification | Awaken to the Harvest | John 4:35-39
[Context]
- Jesus had presented the gospel to the Samaritan women at the well). Samaritans were considered an inferior race (Jews + Babylonian mix race and only accepted the first 5 books of the OT).
- The devil will make you think no one is interested.
- The devil will make you think what you’re doing isn’t working.
o Psalm 126:5-6: We don’t always see what we plant but it is a joy when the things we do plant (do) come to fruition.
Ephesians 6:10-17
Questions:
o Be strong in who? [THE LORD] – the Spirit will come upon you (EMPOWER YOU / DYNAMITE) and you will be MY witnesses. Jesus said, I WILL PUT MY WORDS INTO YOUR MOUTH. He is speaking, not us.
o Put on how much armor? [ALL OF IT] ** Security Forces/armor.
o Who are we NOT fighting? [EACH OTHER]
The Armor of God:
o Belt of truth = Truth Protects us.
o Breastplate of righteousness = speaks to our heart.
o Gospel of Peace (feet) = We reach others when we go.
o Shield of faith = Satan uses doubt, faith overcomes.
o Sword of the Spirit = Word of God.
o Helmet of Salvation = Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
The armor of God is Jesus!
o Belt of truth (John 14:6).
o Breastplate of righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30)
o Gospel of Peace (Ephesians 2:14)
o Shield of Faith (Galatians 2:20)
o Sword of the Spirit (John 1:1)
o Helmet of Salvation (1 Corinthians 2:16 + Romans 12:2)
Who should we Reach?
o EVERYONE!
o Use Missional stories. (Don’t think someone/people group cannot be reached with the message of the Gospel).
