Once Upon a Christmas
There lived a young maiden who was engaged to be married. She lived in a land far away from ours, and a culture very different from the way we live. This story takes place thousands of years ago when times were much simpler, and life was much slower than it is now. This young maiden only thoughts were of getting married, setting up house, and one day having children.
On this particular day she had a visitor that would change her life forever, and that of her betrothed. Their lives would never be the same from that day forward for the visitor brought good yet disturbing news to the young girl. If she accepted the news of the visitor, life was about to get a little frightening to say the least.
The young maiden accepted the news with gladness, and didn’t worry about the consequences for somehow, she had faith that all would be fine. She knew that if she had been called to it than the one who called her would protect her. So, she and her betrothed got married, and set out on a journey of a lifetime.
Nine months later Mary and Joseph found themselves in Bethlehem with nowhere to stay for the night. As it has been told there was no room for them in the Inn, so they found a dirty old stable to stay in. There Mary went into labor and her child was born, and they wrapped him in swaddling clothes, placed him in a feeding troth, and named him Jesus.
Once upon a Christmas a Savior came from Glory for you, me, and this world. He came for one reason, and one reason only ~ to die for our sins. This year when you think of Christmas, remember the little babe in the manger, the man on the cross for the two are one and the same. The cross didn’t happen without Christmas.
Once upon a Christmas Immanuel came from glory!
