When we least expect it, we are living out our faith. many times, we make faith harder than it really is. Faith is as we all know the substance of things hope for but not yet seen, Hebrews 11:1. For many that can be the hardest thing yet for others it seems to be just a passing tiny storm in their life as they go on about business.
Some time ago I heard a phrase about painting our faith onto a blank canvass. At first, I was somewhat taken back by the statement while pondering the issue. The other night while going to sleep at midnight the Lord took me back to a conversation I had over thirty years ago with a lady.
At the time I was working at a party store, I was wrapping empty boxes with an older lady talking about doing after Christmas shopping. I was saying that’s when I got my best deals for the next Christmas season; being a single mom, I had to be thrifty and all I was telling her. She said to me well you have great faith; stunned I looked back at her.
She said to me it takes faith to think that you will be here next Christmas to use those gifts you are buying this year. I stood there and look off into space for a moment and said well you know Alice I never thought about it like that. I forgot about that conversation until a few nights ago, but God made me see once again we operate in faith every day in the tiniest of ways. Why do we make it so hard to have faith in Him (God) in the big things. My goodness folks He is the creator of all that we behold every day, he is our creator, surely, He is able to take care of our problems. If you have faith to buy gifts this Christmas for next year not knowing if you will be here to use them then have faith in the God who created you in His image, Genesis 1:27. If God can create an entire world in six days, you and me He is able to do more than our mortal minds can ever think of. Today start living out your faith by believing in the one who created you, for He is able.
