God loves the Little
Zechariah 4:10a
For who hath despised the day of small things?
1 Co. 1:27
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
If you don't think God is interested in little things, think again.
He sees every sparrow that falls. Most of us would say that a sparrow is an insignificant bird.
He knows the number of the hairs on your head.
When 5 thousand men were hungry on the hillside, Jesus used a small lunch from a little boy (just 5 cracker size breadsticks and a couple of sardines).
Too many times we are guilty of looking for God only in the "big" things in life.
Ex. 4:2
And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod (a dead dry stick).
On our last trip to Dominican Republic, we saw God at work in the small things.
I. A Little Curiosity
We wondered if the electronic Bibles that we gave out a year ago had any real impact.
We were curious to see if our little visits were remembered.
II. A Little Candy (something sweet)
Most of our group had brought lollipops and other candies to give to children along the way.
As we walked up to houses, it was so easy to offer a piece of candy as a way of opening up the conversation.
Then the subject went to the Bibles that were gifted before. In a few cases, the electronics had went bad. The family was glad to receive a new replacement to listen to again. Others had their e-bible on the charger and told us that they listened to it regularly.
More often than not, the families wanted to make us coffee or give us a piece of fruit.
III. A Little Charity
In some homes an opportunity was found to pray over the family and talk of the love of God.
Our conversation went on to encourage them to find a good church that preached the Bible without compromise. Some individuals told of a church that they attended or visited. Upon further investigation, we were able to find the church and visit the pastors' wife. She shared with us that God had called them to this little town about a year ago, and they opened up for services.
There are NO coincidences with God. Our visit to that town to give away Bibles and a couple who felt called to move there and start a church happened simultaneously, just like God wanted.
There are times that God opens the curtain and allows us to see what that little thing is really producing. But most of the time we just do those little things in faith and go on our way without really knowing all that is taking place in the Kingdom of God.
