My eyes are forever on the LORD!
Psalms 25:15 “My eyes are forever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare.”
Came back home bushed-out after a whole week of staying out of town, we almost used all modes of transport, right from flight, cabs, bikes, train and auto rickshaws ; however, I wanted to write the sermon I preached in a church on Sunday, followed by breath-taking miracles during my stay in that particular town. Phew! The Lord spoke to me through the above scripture while I waited upon Him in the quietness of the night. I just kept extremely silent after each incident because I could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit throughout our journey. My eyes are forever on the LORD! WOW!
As a kid I remember a candy man who would bring fresh colorful candy in a bicycle right to our door step and he would make dolls from the candy roll of your choice and give it to you and while he does the pressing and rolling of the dolls, my eyes would be fixed to his hands, watching him intently, until I get my candy. Likewise, our eyes have to be continually fixed on God until we get answers to our prayers, until we hear Him, until we get the peace. Are you listening? In the above scripture, David said, ‘My eyes are forever on the LORD’, DID YOU NOTICE THE WORD FOREVER?
David very desperately needed Protection, Guidance, peace and Pardon, therefore, his eyes were forever fixed on God, he did not have plan B for his needs, he trusted only God. We can understand the intensity of his pain in verse 17”As the pregnant woman approaches the time to give birth, She writhes and cries out in her labor pains, Thus were we before You, O LORD.” Hallelujah! Hey friend, No matter how bad your situation may be, how severe your grief; nevertheless, let your eyes be focused on Jesus! Say Amen.
Isaiah 26: 3 "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.4 "Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.’
Immediately after the sermon, the pastor of that church shared his problem with me and said that they were looking for a new church building since they had to vacate the present premises, his needs were huge, his wife had just got discharged from hospital the previous day, the church building was cracking in several places, in the midst of all this chaos, he understood that he had to look ONLY AT GOD for his needs. Say Amen.
SPIRITUAL EYES:
We may have lovely, big eyes but if we are not able to see God and His Works through our spiritual eyes then are eyes are futile. Many are unable to read the Bible passionately, attend Bible study and comprehend the Bible properly nor are they interested in knowing more of God, they remain stunted with zero knowledge of God, thereby unable to meet the onslaught of the enemy. A brilliant mind will also stagger during times of crisis, if they lack knowledge of God. Look how David cried:
Psalm 25: 19”Look upon my enemies, for they are many, And they hate me with violent hatred.
20 Guard my soul and deliver me; Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.”
Apostle Paul prayed: Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,"
…but our eyes are on You
When the old testament king Jehoshaphat heard that "A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea..”, look what he did:
Verse 3”Jehoshaphat was afraid and turned his attention to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.”
He prayed:
2 Chronicles 20:12 "O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You."
Friends, we have great lessons to learn from the above incident, don’t look at the great army but look at God who is the creator of the Heaven and the universe. Trusting God when everything around you is crumbling requires dependence on God 100%.
Jehoshaphat looked only at God, he fasted, gathered an assembly and he prayed, look what happened:
14 Then in the midst of the assembly the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite of the sons of Asaph;
15 and he said, "Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: thus says the LORD to you, 'Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's.”
Claps hands for God! The battle belongs to Him, just trust and rest in Him. Eventually Jehoshapat won the battle!
Don’t look around much…
Ajla Tomljanovic, a 29-year-old Australian who is ranked 46th, demonstrated to herself and the world that she had the mettle and the shotmaking ability to defeat the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, September 3, 2022. The odds were against her:
• Ashe court: The Williamses: Serena and Venus, launched their careers in Arthur Ashe Stadium, US, it was a familiar court.
• Ajla Tomljanovic was from Croatia, she had never played in Ashe. In fact, she had never even practiced on that court. She had asked tournament organizers if they could find a time for her to hit some balls in the largest tennis stadium in the world at least once, but nothing was available.
• The 24,000 fans were for Serena Williams cheering and encouraging her; however, they were booing and mocking Ajla.
There stood in front of her a 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, standing across the net and playing as well as she had in years. But Ajla refused to look at all the negativity that surrounded her, she later said: “From the first moment I walked on court, I didn’t really look around much,” she said. “I was completely in my own little bubble.” Wow, what a way to win!
Conclusion: I have to take time and wrap this up…
We have many threatening noises all around us today:
• Russian President, Vladimir Putin threatening to use the nuclear weapons in the war against Ukraine, also Putin is recruiting more men to fight in the battle.
• "In the first part of August, China conducted missile tests, large-scale air and sea exercises, cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and economic coercion against Taiwan. If you put all these [moves together], it is part of their playbook for the future invasion of Taiwan. The Russian invasion of Ukraine and a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan is threatening the world now.
However, in the midst of all this chaos, we need to have our eyes fixed on Jesus who sits over the storm:
Hebrews 12:1,2” let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith”
Psalm 29:10The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever. 11The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peace.…
But now my eyes sees you…
I was praying for the salvation of a relative in a very high Government position for several years, Though I had visited their home several times; yet, he avoided me, was rude to me and I was unable to share the Gospel with him. During my recent visit to the city where he stayed I decided to visit them again, early that morning I prayed hard for him, I was determined to defeat the enemy. My husband told me, ‘are you serious, he had already told that we are not supposed to pray or worship in his home.’ I replied, ‘I refuse to obey the devil.’ I kept my Bible in my handbag, selected a song to sing and as a family we boarded the cab to visit the family. I was praying in tongues all the way to their home. When I reached their home, he was at home , praise God! Then I could hear the music of mantras and I found him praying to his idols. I refused to look at the surroundings, my eyes were fixed on Him. After some time, I ventured to ask his wife, ’can we pray?’ I boldly started singing a gospel song, the entire song was over but he did not come. Then we read the Bible, still he did not come.
I did not give up hope, my eyes were fixed on Jesus. I started sharing my testimony with his family, when I had just started, he walked into the room fresh after changing his clothes. Everybody thought, he would walk out but he came and sat right next to us. Hallelujah! I continued to share my testimony of miraculous healing by the Lord Jesus , I lifted the name of Jesus Christ. Again before concluding, we sang and worshiped the Lord (even though he had prohibited gospel songs in his home) Then I announced, ‘Let us pray and bowed my head’, he joined us, we prayed for the entire family that day. He was extremely kind to us, spoke very nicely and came outside the gate to send us off and waved his hands as we left.
As I left their house, there was pin-drop silence inside the cab, with tears in my eyes, with thanksgiving in my heart, I silently repeated the words of Job in my heart:
Job 42:5 "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You.”
