Do you have any idea why God created women in the fashion that He did? Why did he choose the bone that he did? Why the rib?
1. Not the ankle, foot, hand, head, neck, but the rib. That was the closest bone to the heart.
2. Tonight, we will apply the function of the physical heart to that of the wife.
3. The Bible instructs the man is the head, the leader, the provider, the decision maker. 1 Timothy 5:8, 1 Corinthians 11:3
4. The Bible also teaches that the man is to love his wife as his own body. Ephesians 5:28-29
5. With this thought in mind, the man is the head, the woman is the heart.
a. What is their relationship to each other?
b. Both the head and the heart are to be one body.
c. I don't feel it's wrong to apply the lessons of hard trouble to that of a husband-and-wife relationship.
General Thoughts Concerning the Heart
1. Nobody wants a bad heart.
2. We cause most of our heart problems.
3. If our heart is strong, we can stand or endure more effectively.
a. Take more pressure.
b. Work harder.
c. Accomplish more.
d. Cover more ground when hunting.
4. It's a smart person who tries to prevent heart problems. If you do develop heart problems, you must learn to live with them. You don't fight against them.
5. It is sad, but the problem is we realize too late the damage we do to our heart.
How Does the Head Help the Heart?
1. You don't condemn it.
2. You don’t criticize it.
I. You Seek Help
1. Your head tells your heart you need help. No, we need help.
2. The head is of no good if the heart is not working.
3. You seek the best health possible. The most knowledgeable people in the heart field.
a. Not any old doctor will do.
b. You really don’t shop for the best dollar. Cost is no factor.
4. Let me say, there is no higher, no greater source of help on the husband/wife relationship than the word of God.
II. Follow Their Advice
1. It does you no good to know what's wrong, and how to correct it if you don't follow the instructions.
2. Proper medications:
a. love her
b. help her
c. Ephesians 5:25-29
III. Stop Doing the Things that Cause Pressure
1. Friends
a. Usually not the personality.
b. Usually, the priorities of them.
2. Finances
a. Learn to live on what you make.
b. Live within your means.
3. Family
a. Learn to talk.
b. Genesis 2:24; leave father and mother and become one flesh.
4. Feeling
a. Personal rights.
b. All of us feel we have certain rights.
c. Each one, husband and wife should list they're rights.
d. Take time to read each one.
e. Then give all rights to God and tear up the list.
f. Allow God to give them back in the form of privileges.
g. Enjoyed the privilege only as long as you accept the responsibility that comes with them.
IV. Do the Things that Make Your Heart Stronger
1. Exercise
2. It takes work. It takes discipline, But it sure pays off.
3. List the things you might do to help your heart. Then do them.
4. My prayer is, “God help the head to support and help the heart.”
