This whole chapter will be based on the many powerful revelations of 1Samuel Chapter 17.
So let me start by saying, I’ve been hearing a Word in my spirit, and it is this...Goliath shall come down.
What do you mean when you say Goliath? Well the first thing I think of when I hear the word Goliath, is... Giant.
Ok, Let's put that in the Goliath column. Goliath means Giant.
So for something to become a Giant, it has to have been around for awhile.
Giants aren't born Giants. They are born, then they grow, and grow and grow until they reach Gigantic proportions.
But when we speak of Goliath from a biblical perspective, we aren't just talking about something or someone big.
When the Bible introduces us to Goliath we are told…He is a philistine warrior. He was a warrior from his youth, and he was their champion.
So now we have a biblical description of Goliath. Goliath was not only big…
• Goliath was mean.
• He was bad to the bone.
• He was a killer.
• He was the best warrior the Philistine army had.
• He was their champion.
• He had a bad reputation and he had earned it.
To earn the title of champion, Goliath had to have wounded, maimed, and killed many challengers. There’s no telling how many of his peers were maimed or murdered in Goliaths climb to championship status.
• He was ruthless.
• He was a heartless killing machine.
I have spent quite a bit of time with this description of Goliath, and there is a very good reason for that. First of all, it is not to get your attention on Goliath, or to put fear in your heart concerning Goliath. And it is certainly not to impress you with all Goliath’s credentials.
But the reason we have spent so much time examining Goliath, is so that when he falls, you will know, and your friends will know, your enemies will know, and America will know, that it is not because we are so good, or we are so strong, or we are so smart, or we are so mighty.
But there will only be one explanation, and the world will know it. They will know, and you will know… This is a God thing.
There won’t be room enough for one ounce of pride, or self exultation, or adulation. It will be indisputably, undeniably, and undefiably clear… God is fighting for us, and if God be for us, who can be against us?
This is the word I’m hearing in my spirit for you today, and for our country. Goliath shall come down.
I don’t know what Goliath is to you today. I don’t know what you are dealing with that has reached gigantic proportions.
I don’t know what it is that stands in your face and defies you, and tells you that it’s hopeless, and tells you that it’s always going to be this way.
I don’t know what it is that screams at you everyday of your life, trying to intimidate you, and humiliate you, and embarrass you. I don’t know if it’s physical, or spiritual, or emotional, or relational.
I don’t know if it’s something or someone from your past. All I know for sure is what I'm hearing the Holy Spirit say to me, and it is just these four little words. Goliath shall come down.
I’m not just talking today, I’m prophesying… Goliath shall come down.
I’m going to say it again… Goliath shall come down.
I’m going to say it one more time just to make sure the devil hears me… Goliath shall come down.
Somebody ought to be shouting right about now. Somebody ought to be dancing by now. Somebody ought to be clapping their hands right now.
If you’re one of those who has a Goliath in your life, the Holy Spirit gave me this word for you, Goliath shall come down.
That big, boastful, ruthless, murderous, hateful, destructive thing, that has plagued your life. That thing that has hounded you, and rode your back, and nipped at your heels. And has threatened you for so long… God said to tell you. No God said to prophesy to you… Goliath shall come down!
So little David and Goliath meet in the valley to fight to the death, and it begins with a war of words.
Let me just tell you right now, there will always be a war of words. Revelation 12:11 declares... and they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and by the word of their testimony.
Now watch this... Goliath gets one verse. He sends his challenge. He says, come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
It sounds like Goliath is giving David an escape clause. He is saying... If you do accept the challenge, and if you do decide to meet me in battle. this is what I'm going to do to you. And I'm sure that Goliath was going to get more descriptive. But David cuts him off, and clarifies that the challenge has been accepted. and he's not looking for an escape route.
Then David takes 3 verses and unloads on Goliath, and every thing David says is more precise, more specific, and more powerful than Goliaths words.
He begins by telling Goliath, this battle is not really between us. You have spoken in defiance against the God of Israel.
You need to know this as well today. This battle is not really between you and whatever Goliath you're facing. It is really between Jesus and the devil.
Now David announces... as God's representative. And acting in his authority, and on his behalf, this day, this same God that you have defied, is going to deliver thee into my hand, and I will smite thee and take thine head from thee. And David says. Not only will I give your carcass to the fowls of the air and the wild beasts of the field, but also the entire host of the Philistine army.
And all of this assembly, meaning every soldier on both sides will know that there is a God in Israel, and that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear, for the battle is the Lords.
Then David ran to meet the Philistine... "You will never bring down Goliath by running away" The only way to bring down Goliath is to hit him head on.
And you must never run at your giant with your mouth shut.
David brought Goliath down with a sling and a stone, and then he cut off Goliaths head with his own sword.
God said prophesy and declare, Goliath shall come down.
I’m going to go ahead and take another step and tell you, Goliath is coming down right now. On the authority of God’s word, and in the Authority of the name of Jesus, Goliath is coming down today.
Now it’s time for you to prophesy. It’s time for you to declare your victory. It’s time for you to prophesy to your Goliath. Only you know what that Goliath is, and maybe you have more than one, but prophesy and tell that Goliath… You are coming down in Jesus name.
* Maybe it’s a lingering, sickness or illness, that just hangs on and hangs on.
* Maybe it’s a financial battle that has lasted for years.
* Maybe it’s a strained relationship with prodigal sons or daughters.
* Maybe it’s your spiritual life. Maybe you’ve been stuck, and you’ve been in a spiritual drought.
* Maybe you’ve been struggling with anxiety and stress.
* Maybe you’ve been battling a spirit of fear.
* Maybe you’ve been fighting a war in your flesh, and your flesh has been trying to get the control over your spirit.
* Maybe you have been secretly wrestling with some kind of an addiction.
I don’t know, and I don’t have to know. What I do know is, the true champion… The Lord Jesus Christ, is here today, to heal you, to deliver you, to set you free, to break every yoke, to save every prodigal, to cast out every spirit of fear. To bring down every Goliath in your life.
It doesn’t matter how wrong, how strong, or how long, Goliath has been in your life, he is coming down, because the true champion is here. And the difference between Goliath and Jesus is… Jesus has never lost a battle, and he never will.
I think I feel a running anointing trying to sneak up on me.
Well look what the Lord has done, look what the Lord has done, he healed my body, he touched my mind, he saved me just in time… Hallelujah!
One of the definitions of the word Champion from the strongs exhaustive concordance is...
• Between two armies
• A man of the space
This is the way armies would sometimes settle their disputes. They would bring their armies out, one on one side, and the other army on the other side, with a Valley between them.
Then each army would send their best warriors out to meet each other in the valley of decision. This is where it would be decided who was the best warrior, and the entire battle would be decided on the basis of who won, the one on one battle.
The fact that Goliath was the Philistine Champion meant That he had won many of these challenges. Which also means he had killed many challengers.
When and if Goliath's challenge was accepted, it was understood by the challenged, that this was a fight to the death. It was understood that only one person would walk away from the fight, and the other would be left lying dead on the ground.
When David stepped into that valley, he knew it was a battle to the death. In fact the word Ephes-dam’im, means boundary of blood drops. That means to cross this boundary means that someone is going to die. There will be a battle here, and when the smoke clears there will only be one person standing, and the other will be lying dead on the ground.
I need to preach this thing, but I can’t skip over this. I have to shake this bush. God wants somebody to know that, that battle you have been in, that drags on and on. Where you get a little relief, then it hits you again with a vengeance, and it tells you, this is your life, this is the way it’s always going to be.
God said to tell you, the devil is a liar. Those blood drops aren't yours, they belong to Jesus. Because of the boundary of blood drops, you can be free forever. Because Jesus took the challenge, and shed his blood, and because he defeated the devil once and for all… you can be healed. You can be free. You can kiss that problem good bye. You can say bye bye to fear. Bye bye to depression. Bye bye to sickness. Bye bye to bondage. Bye bye to addiction.
Jesus said, ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free, and whom the son sets free, is free indeed.
Because Jesus stood in the middle. The place in between. Because he hung on that old cross, in the middle, suspended between heaven and earth. And he disarmed and destroyed the devil once and for all. You and I can be free, once and for all, and from all.
Because Jesus spoiled principalities and powers, and made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in the cross. We win.
You see, we don’t have to fight the devil. Jesus fought the devil. Jesus stripped him of his authority and his power.
Then Jesus gave to us the authority and the power to bind and to loose. Jesus gave us the authority and the power to tread upon serpents and scorpions.
Our battle today is a faith battle. All we have to do is stand in faith on the authority of the battle that has already been won.
All we have to do is align ourselves with our champion. And when we do, everything that Jesus defeated, we defeat. And everything that Jesus won, we win.
I don’t know who this is for today, but I’m going to prophesy one more time… Goliath shall come down.
God said to tell you that...
• Goliath is just another word for loser.
• Goliath is just another word for headless wonder.
• Goliath is just another word for testimony.
Because when this headless wonder, this loser, is laying dead at your feet, you are going to have an awesome testimony.
One more time, say it with me, prophesy with me... Goliath shall come down.
