Carry the cross
Matthew 10:38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
Do you think this title would be popular? Not at all, we all like to wear the cross as a chain but not carry it in our daily lives. However, Jesus said something powerful and clear,” if you don’t carry the cross and follow Me then you are not worthy of Me.?? Boy, that’s scary.
We must accept inconvenience, loss, sufferings, betrayal, humiliation and we must follow Him, only then we are qualified to be His followers. Our college degree, our family pedigree, our position in Church…..whatever does not qualify us but only our decision to carry the cross and follow Him makes us eligible to be His followers. Glory to Jesus! As I write this portion today at 5.45 am in the morning, I have huge urgent needs in our Abide School, the school that we run for the poor and needy of our community: our roof is leaking because it is an old building and we are in urgent need for our own facility, no water, shortage of teachers and much more. Just because we are obedient believers of God that does not exempt us from the sufferings, we need to patiently endure and wait for God to deliver us and that’s what you call as carrying the cross and not running away from the responsibility. Someone needs to hear me today.
May be there is someone out there in need of a job, may be someone is praying for marriage, children and breakthrough, you don’t see any answers coming through, the challenge is to keep your faith in God and trust Him in this path. Jesus goes on to say in verse 39 He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it’. People who have forsaken God and His ways will look like they are prosperous now and living a cool life; yet, Jesus categorically says, ‘they have lost it.’ There are few schools around our Abide School who give bribe, throw Government rules away and run the School by charging heavy fees and they look very successful and fruitful while we suffer; however, we should not emulate the world and its practices but patiently wait for God to bless us. If you do it the wrong way then curses will come in our life.
Deuteronomy 27:26 'Cursed is he who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'
