IT SHALL BE WELL AND IT IS WELL
Text: 2 Kgs. 4: 18-23
8 And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers. 19 And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother. 20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. 21 And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out. 22 And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again. 23 And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well. 2 Kings 4:18-23
Introduction
There are several things that the word well is used for both in the bible and in the normal daily life. If you look at it the word well is something worth praying about. The word well is associated with many good things and conditions of life. This shot sermon is to encourage you to pray that your situations and condition will be well. I beg you to please not just read this sermon but also to follow the prayer points attached to each of the segments of the sermon.
The Well as a spring of water.
What is a well? a hole drilled or bored into the earth to obtain water. Well is normally dug in areas where there is no easy access to water like from the river or natural springs. Therefore in some communities there might be only one well that serves them or that serves several houses. Sometimes a whole community might just be lucky to find one well springing out water at all times. To such a community, that well becomes a source of life that must be jealously guarded because water is life.
One the reason why Lot was tempted to go to Sodom was because the land had natural waters.
And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Genesis 13:10
During wars the first thing that the enemy wanted to do was to stop the source of water to a community by either taken the water as spoil of war or by filling the well with sand and completely stop it from flowing. When the well is taken by the enemy it won’t belongs before the community will surrender to their enemy. Man can still go a longer days without food but not without water.
For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth. Genesis 26:15
When the enemy wants to punish a person they might not attack him directly but they will want to attack those who are supporting him in order to make him vulnerable to shame and final destruction. The well of your life might be the people that have been supporting you to exist or it might be the material things that support your livelihood. When Jesus was arrested it affected those who have been following him more that Jesus that was taken.
And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered Mark 14:27.
Is there anything that youe enemies have taken from you or that are struggling to take? Let’s pray about it!

PART TWO
WELL AS IN WHOLESOMENESS
In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. 2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, 3 I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD 2 Kings 20:1-5
The second thing that the word well is usually used for is to find out person wholesomeness. Anytime people want to know your status they ask questions saying
Is it well with you?
Are you well at all?
Unfortunately, because we are trying to protect ourselves from embarrassment we have always answered to say everything is well yet many things are not well. It is time now to be honest with God about our condition. We may still speak in faith when we are talking to people but to our God we must be honest and truthful.
2 kgs. 4: So many people always speak with faith like this woman even though they are facing great danger and problems. Would you like to speak to God about your present condition?
PRAYER POINTS.
Father, you are the only one I can say this one to, things are not well Lord please help me before it is too late for me.
Father, let all my prophetic word that all is well with me becomes a reality.
Father, let it be well with my home, my marriage, my health, my children, my business and my entire life.
PART THREE.
WELL AS IN WELL-DONE
Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. 18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. 20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord Matthew 25:16-23
In this story, one of the people did not get a well done greeting from the master because he didn’t do what was expected. It is a terrible thing if one’s master or superior cannot say thank you or well done for the assignment committed to your hands.
When a man has done something to the level of excellence people always say that he has done well. It is almost everyone who wants to achieve excellence and be seen as someone that has done well but only just a few ever made it. Hence the failure in most examination always exceeds the success. There are so many areas of your life that you need to pray to do well. And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Mark 1:11.
Are there areas of your life where you will need to get well done greetings but you are getting the negative? In any exams, In any business, In your marriage and in your career you will need a voice of encouragement and not discouragement.
In life we have discovered that some people never find someone to do them well in life and no one to help them and no one to encourage them. Would you like to pray to God to do well?
PRAYER POINTS.
Father in Jesus name, please promote me to the level of excellence.
Father in Jesus name, please guide me to do what is Right always.
2 Kgs 7:9. Father in Jesus name, those who have the power to do me well: do not allow them to rest until they have helped me.
PART FOUR.
WELL AS TO BE FAVOURED.
Those who are well favoured in the bible are people that are those people or things or conditions preferred above others irrespective of their qualifications.
Abraham was preferred by God above the rest of his family members that God called him out of them in order to bless him alone.
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: Genesis 12:1-2
Jacob was preferred by his mother above Essau. Hence she helped him to obtain the promise by force.
And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying, 7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death. 8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee. 9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth: 10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death Genesis 27:6-10
Joseph was well favoured everywhere he found himself. But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. 23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper. Genesis 39:21-23
God and the people of Israel preferred Saul above all the young men around that He made him the first king of Israel.
And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. 12 And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots. 13 And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. 14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. 15 And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. 16 And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work. 17 He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants. 18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us 1 Samuel 8:11-19
It was because God preferred David to Jonathan as the next King of Israel that there was no way of reconciliation between God and Saul. Even Jonathan who owns the throne preferred that David would be King and him an assistant.
20 And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand. 21 Swear now therefore unto me by the LORD, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father's house. 1 Samuel 24:20-21
PRAYER POINTS.
Father, let the world see what is likeable in me. Jacob saw something in the eyes of Rebekah that was not in the eyes of Leah.
Father, in everywhere I found myself mobilise support for me and my cause.
Father, do not listen to the prophets like Samuel who tried to dissuade the people from making me a king in Israel.
Conclusion.
There are conditions that the word of God has set for those who wants to do well. Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him:
for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him:
for the reward of his hands shall be given him. Isaiah 3:10-11
Give your life to Jesus and His righteousness will count for you
