THE LIVING WATER –
JOHN 4:4"KJV:And he must needs go through Samaria". 13 – 14"Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."
ISAIAH 44:3 - "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:"
It is important to note that the Living water is Jesus Christ. There is no other name, person nor water that can share this with Him – Christ Jesus. In the context of John 4; He introduced Himself to the woman and this divine encounter transformed the identity and destiny of that woman.
A. TURNING MISTAKES TO MIRACLES – John 4:4, 13 – 14.
All things work for the good of God’s people and His purpose – when you read this account from verse 1 of John chapter 4, you will understanding that Jesus Christ was escaping for His dear life from the evil plots of the Pharisees to kill Him. He ran to Samaria where the Jews did not have a very good relationship or assess but in another way, God planning for a meeting with that Samaritan woman to come to the well – it was a place of fellowship – divine appointment.
May you receive a divine appointment in Jesus’ name. Amen. In verse 4, Jesus Christ said that there is NEED for Him to go through Samaria. This informs us that God is in great need to see that we prosper and bear good testimonies of our relationship with Him. He is never a wicked and selfish God, He has always been at work to see His children rejoice. As you go to the business areas, God comes to work too for your glory. Alleluia! In verse 32, Jesus’ disciples confirmed the food of Christ – which is to do His father’s will – this is what He is satisfied with. Your joy and peace, gives God satisfaction.
As you can see that God has the same interest with you.
The woman had five husbands and another man with her which made it 6 men but the encounter with Jesus Christ at the well was a perfect encounter of total transformation for her - the woman met the 7th man called Christ and it perfected all that God has for her. Seven means perfection. For someone reading this, it could mean that you have experienced so many disappointments, many relationship breakups or several miscarriages but I have come to announce to you that the man Jesus Christ is fixing you now
There is a man that is bigger and better than the whole men. He does not disappoint and will not fail. He is the lord of Lords and the Christ.
This man Jesus, brought about genuine repentance and restitution in the woman’s life; she abandoned her water pot by the well and went back to ‘the men’ – verses 28 -30, to witness about Christ to them. She returned to them a changed person and praising God, May you return to the old grounds better and bigger than you left them. I declare a divine transformation to your shameful history, May the God of grace appear to you. One would ask why Jesus Christ should meet such a woman at the entrance of the city?, well god is interested in those rejected and condemned by men to save and change them completely, peradventure, this is your case…. My God will visit you today.
B. THE SURPLUS LIVING WATER – JOHN 7:37-38, ISAIAH 44:3
There is the fullness of this living water to an overflow measure which is possible when the Holy Ghost comes upon you. This is the powerful living water. John 4 talks of salvation and John 7 talks about the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the believer. The scripture says that if any one thirsts and believes that he will receive this overflow and from his spirit will flow rivers of living water.
Note that the bible meant rivers in plural form signifying channels of flow and operation. The devil cannot stop such a Christian because when there is an attack in one way, God will open other channels of flow. There are various channels of the dominion and operation of the Holy Spirit as we can see in Isaiah 11:2
The spirit of the Lord 2. The Spirit of Wisdom 3. The Spirit of understanding 4. The Spirit of counsel 5. The Spirit of might 6. The Spirit of knowledge 7. The Spirit of the fear of God.
Scripturally, we know that wisdom is the Principal thing but I see another dimension that is greater than wisdom and that is the Spirit of the Lord – this was the exact realm of operation that Jesus Christ read Luke 4:18 from; as He entered the temple and read Isaiah 61, nobody could question Him but they just fastened their eyes on Him. At this realm, there is no form of contention, no argument and this is the promised of the Father to us His children. In Jesus’ name, begin to function at this peak of spiritual authority that nobody challenges to stop God’s glory in you.
A genuine encounter with the Living Water – makes one to focus on knowing and serving God faithful with passion. Just as that woman did, she dropped her water pot and went about testifying about the Messiah –Jesus Christ. What is it that you have to drop so that you serve God well? You must be light and open for the use of the Holy Spirit
