God is …
Jesus is the Prince of Peace

Isaiah 9:6-7a NIV
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.
Peace is a sense of tranquility and well-being; a feeling that all is well.
Life isn’t always peaceful. Life can be a combination of pandemonium, confusion, bedlam, anarchy, and complete turmoil.
Three types of peace:
Peace with God.
Peace with yourself.
Peace with others.
1. Peace is an umpire.
Colossians 3:15 NIV
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Rule – to arbitrate, to govern, to umpire.
Peace wants to umpire your decisions. Have you ever made a decision because you felt peace? This was the umpire of peace at work in your life.
When you allow peace to umpire your thoughts, you’re giving peace final authority!
2. Peace is a product of prayer.
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We can either choose to worry or choose to pray.
Prayer is surrender. Pray is admitting we’re not in control.
Prayer is being thankful and grateful for all that’s right in your world.
Prayer is giving your concerns to the umpire and trusting His decision.
3. Peace is a gift.
John 14:27 NIV
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
In every contentious relationship, someone must take the first step toward peace.
God took the first steps toward us!
The reason the world cannot give us peace is because the world isn’t in charge.
When I was young, I never really knew if my parents were having trouble. I knew my dad was in charge and that all would be well. I cannot remember losing any sleep as a child because of worry. Dad was in charge of our home, and all would be well. The only burden I had as a child was to obey my parents. That is also the only burden I have today. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light!
The Prince of Peace is in charge. Therefore, Peace is possible.
