Caleb was promised to receive a mountain that Moses had promised him. And if we were to investigate Numbers 14:24 it says, because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.
If you notice by this time, Caleb had aged a few years since he had been promised the mountain. At the age of 40 he received the promise, and now at this point he’s 85 years old.
When we read Joshua chapter 14, and verse 10 it tells us, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the desert. Notice that he gives God the credit and the one thing that we must know that and that is we have made it this far, because God has kept us. While we are waiting in the promises of God, we must know that he is a keeper. He has kept us from danger seen and unseen; he has kept us when we couldn’t keep ourselves, and he will keep us until the promises are fulfilled.
At 85 years old, Caleb received his promise. So, I’m here this morning to tell somebody that no matter how long it may seem like its taking, God always keeps all His Promises. It doesn’t matter how long that it may seems like it has been. I don’t care what the enemy tries to throw your way, and it doesn’t matter how the enemy tries to take you off of your stance, I’m here to tell you that if God has promised it to you, it will come to pass. In other words, you can go own and live because you will not die until what God has promise you come to past.
And that’s enough for me to shout off of right here. What are you talking about pastor? I’m telling you that if God said it I believe it, if God spoke it, it will come to pass. Because God is not a God that he should lie.
Just like God promised the earth will not be destroyed by water, but by fire next time, and that is why we have rainbows in the sky to remind us, that he has sealed his promises.
If you remember, God promised that He would answer our prayers, come here 2nd Chronicles 7:14. He said a mouth full in this one verse, and that was if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land.
God promised us that he would be there whenever we needed him. In Psalms 46 and 1 he says that he would be our ever-present help in time of need. So, I’m here to tell you that God will be there when you need him in other words, he’s an on time God yes he is.
God promised to those who hope is in the Lord that He will renew their strength. It is promised in Isaiah 40:31, those who wait on the LORD Shall have their strength renewed; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, when it says they shall mount up means that they will soar, they will ascend, climb, and rise above their storms, above their problems and above their situations.
It doesn’t stop there. Not only shall they mount up on wings like an eagle, but he promised that they shall run and not be weary, which means that they will make haste in what they are doing. A believer who truly hopes in the Lord will be strengthened so that he can run through the problems, the hardships, the trials, and the temptations of life, and while they are running, they will not grow weary. They shall walk and not faint, which means that they will walk victoriously, triumphantly, and not faint.
Don’t yall stop me now, because I’m on fire!!!!
God promised where two or three are gather He will be in the Midst.
God promised that we don’t have to worry about the devil and all of his evildoers, because one day He will crush satan. God will keep his promises, because He is a promise keeper.
You see the Problem with this certain situation and this certain mountain was that the enemy took it.
And be on notice that the enemy always wants to take your mountains away, and he will use those that are close to you do it.
The enemy wants to take your faith, if you remember Job wife said curse God and die.
The enemy wants to take your prayer life away, if you remember Daniel prayed three times a day and his enemies knew that so they tried to set him up, but Daniel just kept on praying. And even though you might be going through I dare you to just keep on praying and watch God bring you through.
The enemy wants to take away your testimony, but the bible says let the redeemed of the Lord say so. (Pause)
Check out the Character of Caleb who wanted what God has promised him.
Caleb said in verse 11 says. I am still as strong today as when the day Moses sent me out; Give Me This Mountain.
Caleb said, I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now, as I was then I believe, Give Me This Mountain
Caleb said, in verse 12 Now therefore give me this mountain, that the LORD promised me that day. Caleb said, I have heard that the Anakims are still there, and the cities are greatly fenced, but that’s alright, because the Lord will be with me and I will be able to drive them out. Understand this, when you are out on your own trying to fight the battle, you will lose every time, but when you have the Lord on your side, and the Lord is with you, you are already victorious.
And I here to remind somebody this morning that if the Lord is with you then that’s all that you need.
Because the Lord is strong and mighty and then the Lord is mighty in battle, and my question is when the Lord has made you a promise and the devil tries to take it away from you, will anyone in here be like Caleb and take the Lord along with them?
Well, the record is that the Lord gave him the mountain because, 14 because he followed the Lord God of Israel, wholeheartedly. We have to trust the Lord wholeheartedly, we can’t just trust him part of the way, we must trust him all of the way.
Caleb acquired his mountain by being faithful. Where is our faith in God and not in man?
Caleb seized his mountain by being secure in the Lord. If we trust God as our sword and our shield why is it that we don’t allow him to go ahead of us?
Caleb apprehended his mountain because he was bold. We need to come before the Lord boldly.
Caleb procured his mountain because he believed. that his God could do anything.
And that reminds me of a story about a man by the name of Vernon who had a mule named Bella. And one day Bella fell into a cesspool that Vernon thought that he had covered up but had not, and Bella the mule was deep into this bad situation and had no way that he could get the out of there.
It is said that Vernon didn't want to see Bella to stay down there and starve to death so he promised Bella that he would get her out. I can imagine that Bella said to herself, down through the years I’ve been stubborn in my ways, I always bucked against the grain, and I didn’t always go the way that I should’ve gone, but yet my master was still good to me.
And now I’m down here stuck in this hole, and he still tells me that he going to rescue me.
So, I heard that the master threw a life-line down to Bella and she grabs on to the rope and the pulled her up just as he promised that he would.
And that’s the good news that I came to tell you this morning, and that is, it does not matter how stubborn you have been.
It does not matter how mean you have been.
It does not matter how low we have sunk, God will keep his promise that he will reach way down and
pick us up.
All you’ve got to do is call on him and he will hear and answer prayer.
Tell the devil this morning to let go of the promises you this mountain.
In other words give me back what God has promised me.
Give me my happiness
Give me my husband, wife, children
Give me my family.
Give me my money.
I need this mountain.
I need what God Promised me.
You can’t have what God gave me.
It’s my mountain and you can’t have it.
It was promised for me.
It was made for me.
I need this mountain because it’s a part of my destiny.
