Luke 9:28-The Transfiguration
1. Transfiguration tells us about the importance of Mountains
• Mountains were considered Holy Places Mountains were symbolic of eternity
• Sinai associated with Gods Word Given to Moses here. "The LORD came from Sinai
• This Mountain Mount Sinai be the dwelling place of God the LORD himself will dwell forever?
• God is infinitely strong and stable 1I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? 2My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

2. Transfiguration tells us about dealing with Struggle
• Peter James and John chosen to go up the mountain why? , They went to Pray
• Maybe these needed an encounter and experience because they were struggling ,occasionally we need renewal, revived, restart.
• David needed and encounter an experience restore unto me the joy of my salvation, 8Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. 9Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. 10Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12Restore to me the joy of your salvation
3. Transfiguration may tell us about Death It’s not the end
• Moses died in the 13th century BCE now 1300 years later Moses is alive. 29As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30Two men, Moses and Elijah, 31appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. “If a man dies he shall live again”
4. Transfiguration tells us about the Importance of prayer Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.
• While they were praying they encountered As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
• Through prayer we have access to deep encounters with the heart and mind of our God . Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
• When we call to God that call becomes a source of life,
• Mother Teresa said, “Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts.”

5. Transfiguration tells us who Jesus Is:
• Jesus' face took on Divine type implications during the Transfiguration experience. His features became a mirror of the radiance of God's own divine light.
• "His appearance was "dazzling" white -- a white so bright it "flashed like lightning." Besides his clothing taking on this astonishing dazzle, Luke notes without elaboration that Jesus' "face changed" as well.
• They had witnessed Jesus cause the death to talk, the lame to walk, the blind to see the dead raised now this amazing metamorphous this is significant it signifies the presence of God
6. Transfiguration tells us who Jesus will be He will be the God of all people
• In this transfiguration is the divine radiance and the divine cloud, and the divine voice
• This voice addresses the disciples, ("listen to him") This tells us this is the divine identification of Jesus. “A voice came from the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him." 36When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone.
• Jesus is the only one present meaning all others the main focus is on Jesus
• Jesus will be Crowned Lord of Lords King of Kings, the Lilly of the Valley, The bright and morning Star, the One that was, the one that is, and The one that is to come, he will be the Lamb that will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
• His Kingdom will have no end Jesus will be the one who gives hope to humanity for eternity
4He will be the one who takes the tears away, death He will remove, He will do away with sorrow and tears, there will be no more death. "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
