The inadequate and false coverings we make for ourselves.
Adam and Eve never fail to fascinate. They were the very first human beings. They were covered in the light and glory of The MOST HIGH. They never had to worry about HIS presence and absence. They knew that HE would PERSONALLY visit them daily. They were blessed by the responsibility of caring for the garden of Eden, mind you not cultivating or tilling, the word used is “tend and keep”. They had it good.
But things fell apart after they listened to the devil and here we are. At the start of things falling apart, scripture records that they made themselves coverings out of leaves, and perhaps on seeing, feeling and sensing the inadequacies of the leaves, they just hid plain and simple when The MOST HIGH came as usual to visit them, to cut a long story short, here we are, you and me, in this time, in this era. Note that despite having made themselves the leaf coverings, Adam still said they were naked.
Ever wondered what would have happened if they just cried, ”O FATHER forgive us, I don’t know what we were thinking”. But they didn’t, and here we are.
By the way, nothing is stopping you from crying out, “O FATHER, forgive me, I have absolutely no idea what I am doing here but something is off. Help me, I’m no better than Adam and or Eve”. By now Beloved, you know that the blame game is taking you nowhere. Everyone gets punished for their sins, the snake, Adam and Eve, you, me. Consequences of our actions are present. The MOST HIGH in HIS Sovereignty may or may not alleviate the pain or negativity attached to our sins. Here is one of the areas, we must trust HIM. Adam and Eve never got back into the garden of Eden, at least in this life but in GOD’s time, our SAVIOR was born. The good news is that our SAVIOR, YESHUA, carried the penalty for you and me so we get eternal salvation, if we choose HIM and walk in HIS ways and we know that HE is good, HE will no doubt restore us, at least those who are willing.
Let’s focus on the coverings Adam and Eve made. We are no different from them. WE cover our sins, our inadequacies, our disobedience with many leafy things. We have all these things but still know we are naked. Scripture tells us that a contrite repentant heart, The MOST HIGH will not despise. We know all this but still continue in hot pursuit of leafy coverings.
What are some of the leaves we sew for ourselves and some of the bushes we hide ourselves, engaging in futile works:
i. Many words; verbosity
ii. Blame game
iii. Money
iv. Social activity
v. Social media
vi. Education
vii. Glamorous lifestyles
viii. Entertainment
ix. Religious activity
x. Charity work
xi. Travel and leisure
xii. Exercise
xiii. Health care
xiv. Work
xv. Food and drink
xvi. Relationships
xvii. Substances that numb, lift, soothe
xviii. Business, career, work
xix. Self empowerment
xx. Making ourselves gods
The list is by no means exhausted. In fact every hour, someone is inventing a new leafy covering that promises to make you and your life better. Nothing wrong with all these things, in fact if you have the chance do them all. But number your days and remember that these things, you can’t take them with you. And remember that after a while even the newest thing becomes ordinary. (Scripture tells us that the blessings of The LORD are new, fresh every morning)
Beloved, naked came you into this world and naked shall you return. The clothes, paraphernalia, pomp and ceremony they bury you with remain in the grave and at the cemetery. You proceed onto judgment. Prepare to meet your GOD whether you like it or not. I assure you of some facts. HE will not be baby JESUS in the manger with cute shepherds and angels hovering over HIM, neither will HE be on the cross dying for you.
HE is The KING of kings and The LORD of lords. HIS voice is like the sound of many waterfalls and even greater. The angels prostrate before HIM and you are here talking pompously deceived by new agers that you are god. I assure you, you are not god in any sense as compared to HIM. I suggest you humble yourself before HIM and seek HIS mercy before your time runs out on this earth. It is written, “It is appointed once for man to die and after that the judgment.” Do not be deceived, there is nothing like oblivion, maybe in the movies, but note that even in the movie oblivions, the things in oblivion are brought back to some form of reality. Wake up from your slumber and deception and yes, prepare to meet your GOD.
These leafy coverings can do the following:
i. Give you a false sense of security
ii. Make you think only of the here and now
iii. Take care of your immediate problem without you taking time to address your eternal problem
iv. Make others want to pursue and have a lifestyle like yours, so they make you their idol, their god and start following you and you have to start playing god and very soon you are in what is commonly called substance abuse. Ask the so called celebrities.
Whatever the case, you will find that these leafy coverings do not satisfy.
Beloved, note and know that your leafy coverings will be blown away by the winds and storms of life, then what will you do. If not because of time , they will reduce in value, wither and wilt away.
Our SAVIOR advised us to store wealth for ourselves in heaven where there are no moths and where there is no rust. Many years ago, people sought education when they were in t heir teens, nowadays unborn babies are being given classical music and who knows what other lessons in the womb. The standards are ever shifting. Not bad, but please know The LORD and make sure HE knows you by name.
Heaven and earth will pass away. One day, beloved, for sure, your spirit and your body will separate, your body will be disposed of, and your spirit will have to continue onto eternity to a place determined by your thoughts, words and deeds while your spirit was in the body. Be wise. There are good things which we call rewards for those who believe in The SAVIOR YESHUA and who follow HIS commandments and are led by HIS SPIRIT. Terrible things await those who choose to depend on the futile, inadequate coverings they have made for themselves.
Beloved, there is a Book of Life somewhere. This is not guesswork or high imagination. You yourself have books and documents with information regarding you. You carefully express your wishes and state that which should be done to the people known to you and you leave those unknown to you outside your provision. Why then do you think that The MOST HIGH does not have this prerogative? Why do you deny HIM this prerogative?
Beloved, just as you set conditions for what is yours and what is not yours and you do what you please with what is yours, so too The MOST HIGH has set conditions for you to inherit and come into HIS blessings. The most important is found in John 3:16,
For YAHWEH so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone believing into Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Now, if The MOST HIGH says you will have everlasting life, if you believe in HIS only begotten SON, and we know that The MOST HIGH does not lie, what are you waiting for, believe in YESHUA, believe in JESUS CHRIST now and you shall have everlasting life in a good place because The MOST HIGH does love you and as it says in the scripture, HE loves you so much.
Do you want to know JESUS as your personal Lord and Savior? Your eternity is at stake! JESUS has opened the door of salvation to every person. But there is coming a day when the door will be closed. Today is the day of salvation. Choose to be in the family of GOD. JESUS died so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with HIM. Don't delay! And if you want to begin a relationship with GOD or resume a broken one, say this: O GOD, I come to YOU today. I know I am a sinner. I believe that JESUS died on the cross to save me and HE resurrected on the third day. I repent of my sins and forsake them. I confess JESUS as my LORD and SAVIOR . I invite JESUS into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am saved. Thank YOU JESUS for saving me and making me a child of GOD. Amen
