Love Your Enemies Luke 6:27-38
1. Love your enemies? Jesus say Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
• Jesus declares to his audience, "Love your enemies," The "love" Jesus calls for is not emotional or sentimental attachment. This love is active. Like “For God so loved the sinner He gave”
• Stephen showed an example of Love He was stoned to death by a group of men led by Saul of Tarsus who later became Paul. Before Stephen died, He prayed for his enemies, those who were persecuting him.“And he kneeled, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” Acts 7:60 KJV
2. Children of the most High God Love their enemies and do Good for the enemy
• "love" is actively pursuing good for the enemy. "Do good," Jesus commands.
• He doesn't say "think good thoughts or have good feelings," but actually "do good to those who hate you."
• Proverbs tells us to give to enemy 21If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
• Jesus did Good for the enemy when He was arrested. His enemies had come to arrest Him and kill Him but He displayed love there. One of His followers pulled out his sword and struck the servant of the high priest cutting off his right hear. Jesus out of Love for everybody healed the man.
“And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.” Luke 22:51 KJV
3. Jesus says, love the enemy, they do good toward the enemy, and bless the enemy.
• Bless means it describes the act of consecrating something or someone by religious rite or word.
• It means to confer prosperity or happiness upon another. Even blessing someone who has just sneezed is an expression of such goodwill and a desire for continued health.
• “to bless” is “to add strength to another’s arm.” In this respect, to bless others is to build them up, to fill them with encouragement for them to increase in strength and prosperity.
• God blesses nature (Gen 1:22), humankind (1:28), the Sabbath (2:3), nations (Ps 33:12), classes of people (1:1-3), and individuals (Gen 24:1

• Jesus tells us Love them , Do some good on them, Bless them, Pray for them
• We want our enemy to have wellbeing, bless the enemy? Pray for the enemy? This is totally unreasonable. (pray for the rascal that did the wrong!
• Paul writes to the Corinthian 1 Cor 14:1 to “Follow the way of Love” 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Cor 13:4-6 8Love never fails.
• Jesus calls us to do the impossible “Love your enemy”, not the possible which is put up with enemy”.
• Jesus calls us to do the improbable (do good to enemy), not the probable (do nothing for enemy).
• Jesus calls us to do the unreasonable (Bless enemy), not the reasonable (Ignore enemy).
• This is completely away from normal (curse enemy Bad vibes your way,) it is abnormal (to pray for enemy)
• Jesus loved the enemy, Jesus did good to enemy, Jesus blessed the enemy, and Jesus prayed for the enemy, Jesus loved so much he died for us , He forgave us, He Came for us .
