Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

We find many expressions of Jesus in the NT, but today I want to call your attention to

one in which He is called “this man”.

Two men were walking in a garden when one of the men turned to other and asked this question. “What does Jesus mean to you?” He replied as he pointed to a flower, “As the

sun is to that flower so is Jesus to me.

I hope Jesus is real to you, and He is your everything as you live in this world.

“Perhaps you have heard about the little boy who returned home after his first Sunday School class. His mother asked, "Who was your teacher?" and the little boy answered, "I don't remember her name, but she must have been Jesus' grandmother because she didn't talk about anyone else." 1

I-WE SEE THIS MAN JESUS AS THE DIVINE MAN:

Mark 15:39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

1-You and I as Christians weren’t there in person, but because we know this Divine man Jesus, we can shout the cry of the centurion who was there as he said, “Truly this was the Son of God. “

2-A Japanese man after reading the book of John said, “this book is not about a man, it is about God.

3-When Christ is seen and studied, every honest person must acknowledge his deity.

4- Rev. W. Kingstone Greenland visited a vacant house with a friend who desired to purchase it. The friend was particularly struck by the beauty of one of the rooms which he wished to turn into his study; but he objected to a cupboard in the corner. "I will have to remove it," he said to the architect. "No, you won't," was the reply. "But I can do what I like if I buy the house," said the man. "You cannot do what you like with that cupboard," answered the architect. "Why not?" he asked. "Is it protected by a clause in the deed?" "No," said the architect, "it is not on the deed; it is on the plan. You cannot take away the cupboard without taking down the house, it is part of the main structure."

So if we take away the deity of Christ, we destroy the whole structure of Christianity. That doctrine is built in. It is central. It is structural of the structure.

II-WE SEE THIS MAN JESUS AS THE FAULTLESS MAN:

Luke 23:4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and [to] the people, I find no fault in this man.

1-Three times in these scriptures, we find the statement, “I find no fault in this man”. He did no sin, He knew no sin, and in Him was no sin, For He was the Divine Son of God.

2-He was holy in nature, harmless in action, and undefiled in life, and without sin.

3-I was preaching in a revival on the Island of Guam back in the spring of 1995. The Saturday night before the revival began, I went to the University of Guam to watch the Billy Graham special on the giant screen in the gym. During the invitation over a 100 people gave their lives to this faultless Christ. The next day as I arrived at the Church, one of the members said, Bro. Evie, a lady was killed less than two blocks from here early this morning. We later found out that this woman was one of those who had been saved the night before. She had found no fault in Him and was saved the day before she was killed.

III-WE SEE THIS MAN JESUS AS THE POWERFUL MAN:

Matthew 8:27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

1-In the years 1014-1035 there ruled over England a Danish king named Canute. King Canute tired of hearing his retainers flatter him with extravagant praises of his greatness, power and invincibility. He ordered his chair to be set down on the seashore, where he commanded the waves not to come in and wet him. No matter how forcefully he ordered the tide not to come in, however, his order was not obeyed. Soon the waves lapped around his chair. One historian tells us that, therefore, he never wore his crown again, but hung it on a statue of the crucified Christ. 2

2-There is only one powerful enough to still the waves and His name is Jesus. When Christ stilled the raging of the sea, they recognized there were in the presence of the Lord of nature.

3-This story tells me the Christ who can still the storm is powerful enough to still the storms in my life, and give me that wonderful peace I need. My part is to trust Him.

4-Vance Havner, a Baptist evangelist, related the story of an elderly lady who was greatly disturbed by her many troubles both real and imaginary. Finally she was told in a kindly way by her family, "Grandma, we've done all we can do for you. You'll just have to trust God for the rest." A look of utter despair spread over her face as she replied, "Oh, dear, has it come to that?" Havner commented, "It always comes to that, so we might as well begin with that!"

IV-WE SEE THIS MAN JESUS AS THE LOVING MAN: LUKE 15:2

Luke 15:2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

1-I am so glad that Jesus was a friend of sinners and loved them because I qualified. But thank God, Jesus took me in and forgave me, and changed my position from a sinner to a saint, from a son of wrath to a son of God, from a person with no hope to a person with the blessed hope. I don’t understand it, I just accept it and believe it!

2-A minister one day sat in the vestry of his church to meet anyone who might have spiritual difficulties. Only one came. "What is your difficulty?" asked the minister. The man answered, "My difficulty is the ninth chapter of Romans, where it says, 'Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated,'" "Yes," said the minister, "there is great difficulty in that verse; but which part of the verse is difficult for you?" The latter part, of course," said the man. "I cannot understand why God should hate Esau." The minister replied, "That verse has often been difficult, but my difficulty has always been with the first part of the verse. I never could understand how God could love that wily, deceitful, supplanting scoundrel Jacob." 3

V-WE SEE THIS MAN JESUS AS THE WONDERFUL MAN: JOHN 7:46

John 7:46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

1-Many have spoken words but never a person spoke like Jesus spoke. His Words were simple but they were truth, they were gentle but strong, it is not how He said them but What He said in them.

2-Consider this: The Lord's Prayer contains 56 words; the Gettysburg Address, 266; the Ten Commandments, 297; the Declaration of Independence, 300; and a recent U.S. government order setting the price of cabbage, 26,911. It's not how long we talk, it's what we say that is so important. 4

VI-WE SEE THIS MAN JESUS AS THE SACRIFICING MAN:

Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

1-A perfect offerer has given a perfect offering which bring us a perfect redemption.

2-During World War II came the story of an officer that truly cared for his men. They were near enemy lines. The fighting had become quite heavy. Suddenly a grenade landed in the midst of his men. This officer threw his own body over the grenade. It ripped his chest open and tore out his heart. He gave his life for his men. When Jesus was nailed to the tree He threw his life over the sin of all mankind. It ripped his heart out and it burst. But all men could have the benefits of his life, his blood, his sacrifice. He more than care for you. 5

VII-WE SEE THIS MAN JESUS AS THE UNCHANGING MAN: Hebrews 7:24

But this [man], because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

1-A lot of things are changing around us, people change, places change, attitudes change, some say even truth changes, but I am thankful that above this changing world is the unchanging Christ.

2-Someone has said, morality will keep you out of jail, but only the unchanging Christ will keep you out of hell and carry you to heaven as you are saved by Him.

3-He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village, where he worked in a carpenter shop until he was thirty. Then for three years he was an itinerant preacher.

He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place where he was born. He did none of the things one usually associates with greatness.

He was only thirty-three when the tide of public opinion turned against him. He was turned over to his enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. When he was dead, he was laid in a borrowed grave.

Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today he is central figure of the human race and leader of mankind's progress.

All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the kings that ever reigned have not affected the life of man as much as that One Solitary Life. 6

Conclusion-A group of university students were coming home after an evening of debauchery. Their drunken leader noticed on a steeple of a church a cross, illuminated by the moonlight. In drunken tones he called out, "Ye mathematicians, look at God's plus sign!" One of those students could not sleep that night. Toward morning he stepped into the leader's room and waking him, told him that the vision of the Cross as God's plus sign--the symbol of His love for mankind--had made him decide to uphold that Cross. And seven others of the group followed later in accepting Christ and His cross.7
