A LETTER OF CONCERN-

HOW TO DEAL WITH CRAZY TIMES

1 Corinthians 7:25-40

Introduction:

As we continue our study in 1 Corinthians, it seems that we are still studying whether to marry or not marry. While that is true, there is more to this passage.

1 Corinthians 7:25-28

During crazy times, you must understand…

1. The present crisis.

What was their crisis? The Romans were professionals when it came to persecuting Christians. Nero was known for doing things like sewing them up in the skins of animals and letting dogs attack them until they died. Others were dressed in shirts made stiff with wax, tied to a tree; and set on fire to light up his gardens. Persecution is difficult for anyone; but it is doubled when the person is married. It is not wrong to be married or to be single; but during times of persecution, being single is simpler.

We are in a time of crisis. We all must trust in Christ as we go through life. During times of crisis, be careful to not make big changes in your personal life. Christians, you must stay focused- Be watching, praying, and ready.

1 Corinthians 7:29-31

During crazy times, you must understand…

2. That time is short.

Your life on this Earth is short. You need to live each day as it is your last day. Paul warns us to not get too focused on marriage, mourning, happiness, possessions, and pleasure. It is not that any of these things are bad; but time is short, and we need to keep all of this in perspective. This world will end. The Earth will be destroyed, (not by human caused global warming) but by God through the Tribulation.

1 Corinthians 7:32-40

During crazy times, you must understand…

3. The need for your undivided devotion to God.

It is good to be free from concern. It is a time that you need to live in a right way. Your concerns should be about what God is calling you to do. If you are single, it is easier to focus on this because your focus is not split between God and your spouse.

Conclusion:

During this time of political, medical, and spiritual crisis; what will you choose to do?
