From the Scripture in your hearing and by help of the Holy Spirit, I would like to ask the question, “WHAT BECOMES OF THE BROKEN HEART?”
Back in February 1966 in the Hitsville USA, Studio A, a young man recorded a song newly written by Motown’s songwriting team of William Weatherspoon, Paul Riser and James Dean backed up with instrumental Motown’s in-house studio band, the Funk Brothers. Originally, the song was going to have a spoken word by this singer in the style of another well-known artist during that time but decided not to use it in the final mix which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 6 on the Billboard R&B Single chart and No. 8 on the UK Chart for Jimmy Ruffin the elder brother of David Ruffin.
There’s a Jewish Proverb I read that goes like this: “God is closest to those with broken hearts”. This quote goes with our Scripture in your hearing. You see the righteous will cry out and the Lord will hear our cry and then he delivers those who is trouble. Not only God will hear your cry, but He will also bind up that broken heart saving those who’s spirit is crushed.
From mayoclinc.org, they describe a broken heart in the medical sense Broken heart syndrome is a temporary heart condition that's often brought on by stressful situations and extreme emotions. The condition can also be triggered by a serious physical illness or surgery. It may also be called stress cardiomyopathy, takotsubo cardiomyopathy or apical ballooning syndrome.
People with broken heart syndrome may have sudden chest pain or think they're having a heart attack. Broken heart syndrome affects just part of the heart, temporarily disrupting your heart's normal pumping function. The rest of the heart continues to function normally or may even have more forceful contractions.
The symptoms of broken heart syndrome are treatable, and the condition usually reverses itself in days or weeks.
Symptoms
Broken heart syndrome symptoms can mimic a heart attack. Common symptoms include:
Chest pain
Shortness of breath
Heartbreak is a universal experience that comes with intense emotional anguish and distress.
There are several types of having a broken heart I found:
Broken heart from grief. This is one of the common ways of having a broken heart when losing a loved one, spouse, friend or classmate.
Broken heart of divorce. When a couple splits due to something terrible happening in a marriage.
Broken heart of a break-up. This is when a couple who was deeply in love with each other and then suddenly breaks up.
So, what does the Bible says about having a broken heart and is there a remedy to a brokenhearted?
Let me give you an answer straight from Jesus himself, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me...” Luke 14:1. Don’t trouble yourself when you get a broken heart from another person.
Here are Biblical truths prescribed from the Word of God to help cure that broken heart or if you felt someone left you with a broken heart.
A) GOD CAN HEAL YOUR BROKEN HEART. Grandma Queen was the last of my grandparents left living in 2005. I grew up around her from Salem, NJ to Sylvania, GA and she was always my granny. I will never forget the last time I saw her, I laid near her when she was ill not saying anything but just being there. The morning of July 14th, the family gotten word that my grandma passed away, my heart broke in two. It was later God began to mend this broken heart of mine. No matter what becomes of that broken heart God will and can heal and bind up those wounds that are broken because in Psalms 147: 3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds”.
B) GOD IS NEAR WHEN YOUR HEART IS BROKEN. God is near when that very thing has left in a heartbreak; you are not alone even when your spirit is crushed Psalms 34:18 tells us that, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Remember, you are not alone!
C) NO FEAR REQUIRED! Fear seems to be a coping mechanism that Satan uses to trick and confuses us in order to keep us in fear no matter what is going on. But I am here to announce to you from what the Prophet Isaiah told us to, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” Isaiah 41:10. No matter what God got you! Here’s another one to remember, “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” Deuteronomy 31:6.
And so, what becomes of those who has been broken hearted?
As the lyrics of the song suggest and question:
“What becomes of the broken hearted
Who had love that now departed
I know I’ve got to find
Some kind of peace of mind

Are you someone who is going through crushing grief, anguish or distress? God never fails and like David who suffered broken heart circumstances or when Job one day lost everything and tore his clothes and shaved his head and fell on his face on the ground and worshiped God saying, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” Job 1:20-21.
Let me repeat myself once more, GOD NEVER FAILS! Paul wrote, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Finally, God had his heart broken because of He loved this world so much that He gave His only Son, had Him beaten, spit on, had Him walk with a heavy Cross on His back walking up the Via Dolorosa or” Way of Grief” or “Way of Sorrow” or “Way of Suffering” within the Old City of Jerusalem. Placed on a Roman cross to die a death with your sins and my sins placed upon Him, a man who knew no sin but became sin in our place. It was there on that old rugged cross, where He gave up the ghost taking His last breath and died.
God’s heart was broken and that’s when the sun refuse to shine, the curtains in the temple split in two and the ground shook that’s when God turned His back on His Son because God is so perfect and so Holy that He cannot look on sin because His Son became sin for us.
God had a heart break because how wicked and terrible this world is. So, He had a sacrificial lamb prepared, and that Sacrificial Lamb’s name is Jesus Christ of Nazareth, somebody give a shout of praise!
Now, to those of you who do not know Jesus as your Savior in the pardon of your sins, time is winding up have you accepted Jesus as your Savior today? If not do not hesitate now is the acceptable time.
I employ you don’t let this moment pass you by. Time is swiftly getting away from us. Within months apart, my father-in-law and my brother-in-law left us in the same year. A cousin of Vanessa died at home sitting up in a chair and dressed for work. A neighbor of ours we saw one-week downstairs happy as she can be asking about her grandson the next thing you know it, there’s a funeral program of hers on the board downstairs in the lobby. Death is real and there is no time to fool around because Jesus is coming soon. What about you friend? Will you accept Christ today? Now is the time, now is the moment.... AMEN.
