Read Psalms 91:16
Read 2Sa 5:17-19
I want to bring your attention to the book of Samuel, and these 2 verses. David was anointed to be king over Israel, the Bible says that the Philistines came out against David.
Notice... The Philistines were notified of Davids new level anointing, and they came out to challenge him.
When David was anointed his problems didn't go away.
*The anointing is not problem exemption power.
*The anointing is power to confront problems.
The fact of the matter is this, when David was anointed his problems got bigger.
When David was anointed with a fresh anointing, and when David was anointed with a third level anointing, his problems multiplied.
Now don't let that discourage you. Some people are like, hey if my problems are going to get worse I don't even want a greater anointing.
No, the way you should look at is, when the bigger problems come you are anointed with a bigger than anointing.
A greater than anointing. Because it is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that is the Divine supernatural equipment for every thing.
The anointing is not for shouting and dancing and goose bumps.
Oh don’t mistake what I am saying. I am not saying that the anointing is placid and calm, and relaxed. On the contrary, I believe anywhere the anointing shows up, there will be activity. I am just saying, the anointing is far more than just emotionalism...
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is the supernatural equipment to destroy the works of the devil.
Isaiah says... the anointing is the burden removing, yoke destroying power of God.
"And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing." Isaiah 10:27
I believe that we should expect that every time we gather together, that yokes will be destroyed, bondages will be broken, and bodies will be healed... And that is exactly what will happen if the Holy Spirit has his way.
I could be wrong, but I believe our level of expectation for the supernatural, miracle working, glory and power of God, is far too low.
At the very least, even if there aren't even any sick that need to be healed, we should be experiencing the fire of his presence that shifts, and elevates us to new levels of his glory and presence, every time we meet.
*Friends, we should be experiencing fresh baptisms of the Holy Ghost and fire, every time we meet.
There should be such a hunger and thirst, and craving for the glory of God, that we will not be satisfied with anything less than the tangible and manifest presence of Jesus.
*The indisputable truth is... You will only get what you are willing to reach for.
*And it follows... If you can live without it, you will live without it.
*Hunger is the magnet that draws the presence of God.
*Hunger is the thermometer God uses to check our spiritual temperature.
*Our hunger is a prophecy. Remember, they that hunger and thirst shall be filled. *You will be filled in exact proportion to the intensity of your hunger.
*Since hunger is the rule God uses to pour his Spirit out, we should be asking God to increase our hunger and our desire.
It is in his presence that we are anointed with his power, and if there ever was a time when we needed the power of God, it's right now.
When David received this third level anointing, he immediately showed up on the devils radar screen. He showed up as a threat to the devil.
Until you are anointed, you don't really even show up on the devils radar screen. You are no threat to hell.
*Friends, it is the anointing that makes you dangerous to hell.
*It is the anointing that gives the devil nightmares.
*The anointing is visible in the spirit realm.
Remember, the devil recognizes the anointing, because the anointing is the same power that kicked him out of heaven.
Everything Jesus did... every miracle, every healing, every deliverance, was by the anointing of the Holy Ghost.
Remember this verse? "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him." Acts 10:38
I believe that every believer, every born-again child of God, and every blood washed Spirit filled Christian should be asking, and should be actively seeking, and passionately pursuing a new level of anointing. Why? Because we need it. Because we are already fighting on a new level.
We are fighting higher level devils. You may not understand it, but the truth is, there are different ranks, and there are different levels of demons in the kingdom of darkness.
And we are definitely fighting higher level devils today than in the past.
Nonchalant, and haphazard, halfhearted, and lukewarm relationship with God, is not going to cut it anymore.
*I am convinced that if we don't learn the secret of living from the secret place, we aren't going to make it.
Psalms 91 is a Covenant of blessings and promises, that are only between God, and those who live in and from the secret place.
You can't claim Psalms 91 unless you are living in Psalms 91.
From this secret place, we become the anointed of the Lord.
*The anointing of the Holy Spirit is standard operating equipment for the child of God.
Precious friend, the anointing is not just the feeling of the wonderful presence of the Lord, though we are thankful for his presence, the anointing is different.
The anointing is for warfare.
The anointing is for casting out devils.
The anointing is for healing the sick.
The anointing is for delivering the bound and the oppressed.
The anointing is for setting captives free.
The anointing is for break through.
When you operate under the anointing, everything you do becomes part of your warfare against hell.
Under the anointing, your giving is warfare.
Under the anointing, your singing is warfare.
Under the anointing, clapping your hands is warfare.
Under the anointing your worship is warfare.
Under the anointing, just playing an instrument becomes warfare.
Best example is when David played his harp and evil spirits left Saul.
The secret place is not a hide out where we run to get away from the enemy...
Yes, the secret place is a place of safety for those who dwell there. But the secret place is much more than that. The secret place becomes the sacred place, and the sacred place becomes the most desired place.
In that secret, sacred, desired place, is where you cultivate a personal and intimate relationship with the Lord.
Jesus said... enter into thy closet and shut the door, then pray to your father in secret, then he said, the father which seeth in secret shall reward you openly.
The anointing on your life is the reward of dwelling in the secret place.
Go back to Psalms 91. First David talks about all the safety and protection, for those secret place dwellers. Then in verse 13, it shifts from safety and protection, to authority and power.
There is an anointing for protection, then there is an anointing for demonstration... For manifesting the power of God over the works of the devil. Let's read it together.
Psalms 91:13 "Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet."
That sounds a lot like "Luke 10:19"...
Behold I give unto thee POWER, to tread upon serpents, and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
That power is the anointing, and that anointing can only be found in the secret place.
Without the anointing you are dead in the water.
Without the anointing of the Holy Ghost, you are an invitation to disaster.
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is the key to the abundant life.
David writes... Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Psalms 23:5
The anointing is the key to the effective life.
Zechariah writes... Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit sayeth the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6
Now I want to draw your attention to something very powerful.
What did David do when he received his 3rd level anointing and he heard that the Philistines were come out against him?
The Bible says, But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it and went down to the hold. 2 Samuel 5:17
That word... hold, means stronghold, fortress, defence.
Then verse 19 says... And David enquired of the Lord, shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to David, go up: for will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
The hold is just another way of saying... The secret place.
Thats what the Hold represents. It’s the place where you get everything you need. It’s the place where you get energized and revitalized. It’s the place where you get instructions and directions.
*It means getting alone with God.
*It means, I recognize that I need Divine instructions and I need Divine assistance.
It is the secret place of the most High.
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.
David knew his success was not just in being anointed, he knew it was a personal fellowship and communion with the Lord himself.
Too many believers count too much on themselves.
Yes David knew he was anointed, but he also knew, he had to stay connected to the source.
I see so many people in the church today who are foolishly leaning on their anointing alone.
In other words... They don’t think they need to come to church, to Bible study. And they are deceiving themselves into believing that they are ok, because they can feel his presence, or because they spoke in tongues 6 months or a year ago.
I love you, and that's why I'm going to say this...
If you think that you can miss church 4 times out of 5. And you don’t pay your tithes, you don't think Bible study is necessary, your not seeking God. You’re not spending time in his presence, loving and worshipping him in the secret place. But you're ok.
You’re lying to yourself, you’re self deceived. And I believe you’re in a very dangerous spiritual condition.
I believe that you are not only in danger of backsliding, you are backsliding.
You want to know what scares me? It's this... That we are living in the darkest, most treacherous, and most evil times of our entire lives, and multitudes of church folk act like nothing is happening, and carry on as usual. "That scares me"
*If you are not agressively passionately pressing forward, then the fact is... you are passively backsliding.
David went down into the hold. I’ll say it this way... David got ahold of God.
David knew, he could not rest on past victories or past accomplisments. Or past experiences with God, or past anointings. David knew he needed the fresh fire of God burning in his life.
Precious friends, I’m telling you today, I don’t care how great your past accomplishments or experiences have been, or how anointed you were at one time. You need a fresh fire!
You need to get down into that hold, and get ahold of God, until God gets ahold of you.
You need to cry out to God for a fresh baptism of Holy Ghost Fire. Not just in times of trouble, but every day.
*What God is trying to lead us into, is the revelation of not only having a secret place experience everyday, but of living from the secret place.
When David came out of that hold he had Divine instructions, Divine presence, and Divine power.
And the Bible says... And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, the Lord hath broken forth upon my enemies before me, as the breach of waters.
Thats the purpose for the anointing. To smite the enemy. To undo the works of darkness.
1 Jn 3:8 "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested... that he might destroy the works of the devil."
And beloved, that is why we must get back to the hold... Not just as a refuge from the storm and a hide out. But the place where we are refreshed, and we are revived. The place where we receive fresh fire, and where God downloads orders from headquarters, and the place where we are clothed with the anointing.
And most importantly, the place we live from.
E.m. Bounds once said... He who would be much for God must be much with God.
